Mazda5 jacking on side sills?

Can you jack the mazda 5 from the Side sills with a hydraulic jack, then putting the stands in place? I know there are jack points underneath the undercarriage, but my cheesy 2 ton jack will not do the job. Thanks.

Is this the jack points you are referring to or is it the bigger nut in front of this? I am a guessing I am a bit slow. Rather be safe than sorry.

I am thinking it is the bigger bolt in front of the circled one and slightly in. They have what looks to be agreenish looking bushing device. Thanks again

I usually jack somewhere on the side sills and put jack stands underneath that large metal frame. With tires still on, release the jack a bit to share the load with the jack stands. I crawl under to do the change oil job. We don't have earth quakes here but I want to minimize damage if ever it happens while I'm under the 5. :).

I'm planning on getting a low profile and long reach jack. This way I can jack in the middle as pictured above.

I like to use the jack points circled in red on the photo below. I got the photo from another site. I then place my jack stands on the factory jacking points. I did have to drive my car up on to a piece of 2x6 in order to get my jack to the jacking points. I use a hockey puck to keep from maring the bolt's head. You could use wood, but it tends to split.

What year Mazda5 is that? Because my 2006's under carriage black splash shield is smaller and do not reach up to that metal frame. Or is that a mazda3?

That is either a Mazda3 or MazdaSpeed3. Your Mazda5 should still have the larger bolts that are circled though. My 2010 Mazda5 does.

lol. Thanks. The hockey puck, I've thought about it and will get one. But the "driving the car up a piece of 2 x 6" totally escaped me. Now my existing jack can reach the jacking points. And as you said, jack stand goes to the side sill area.
