Mazda5 Interior / Cargo Flexibility Photos

Everything but dirt..

I keep losing the argument for a new truck when this thing keeps carrying everything I throw at it.

I Have had 6 could have fit 7 Pre-Hung interior doors and really wish I had a camera when it was loaded!

This weekend we drove an hour north to buy a Daybed with a trundle bed for a spare room. The trundle was together and I used it to hold the mattress down on the highway. The rest of it headboard, footboard and ton of other stuff went inside along with our bi-weekly wholesale club shopping on the way home.

Later yesterday I had 5 sheets of OSB ripped for the attic and loaded the 10 pcs. on top, The looks you get is great when people see these things loaded... or when you are at your big stores and the kid looks at you like you are crazy when you want to load a ton of stuff in it... "Watch and learn kid!"

Third trip to the dump in my 5, third time I've been impressed with how much it can hold, but then when I get to the dump, third time I'm unimpressed about how dirty I got the interior and even more unimpressed about how I've scratched the rear tint yet again. :( I'm going to rent a truck from Zip Car next time and leave my Mazda 5 for less hazardous materials!

Agree! (sun) I've got a scratch on the headliner behind the second row and it drives me nuts! Nope not me that did it, but boy that makes me cringe as to what or HOW it was made, good thing the rest of the inside was claen.

Peace!(rei)

I agree the 5 is definitely a keeper.... but I use my Tundra far too much towing and hauling our toys n camping. Now if it was a tad bigger and had a TDI AWD drivetrain and could tow 4-5k I'd be a happy camper

Took the remains of the garden shed roof to the dump yesterday. With the seats flopped down and a canvas tarp for protection, the five was stuffed to the headliner. Dump reciept showed 200 KG (440 lbs) of rotten wood. Took an hour to claen out the wood chips and dust after I got home. Who needs a truck:)

From our trip last weekend for Thanksgiving.

Chloe spent an hour waiting for us to finish packing. She would NOT be left at home!

just added a thule rack, and an hour later did this. those are 10ft 1x6 beadboard planks. I'll have to add some loops to make it easier to attach the tie down straps. my MPV had convenient loops for that.

HA! I was just at the conshohocken IKEA today, but didn't load it up like that (this time). just some pendant lamps.

I have a DANG crapy camera.... the pictures I took were not good...

i know this is the photo section - but it's too good of a story. I know that many of you will see yourselves in a similar situation... Anyway, here's the story.

We bought the bed for our child, Oak... the sales person says:
"will you be picking it up or shall we deliver?"

I gave the stupid answer : "how much does it cost?"
She gave me her stupid reply : "50$ + taxes"

I started laughing - no way - 50 + bucks !!! : "How big is the box? I have a Mazda5!!"

She calls the back store guy - asks him to measure : 64 in. X 53 in. X 12 in.

I go the the Mazda5 - open the hatch.... OK for the 64 in. - NOT Ok for the 53 in.... I am stunned!!!

The sales person looks at me with a big gigantic smile and says : "What address?"

I do not say a word, grab the measuring tape out of the back store guy's hand and go measure the demo on the floor... the head board measures 61in. X 49 in. X 6 in.

With a GREAT big smile I ask the sales person : "where do I go to pick it up?"
(alright)

Went out back, opened the box, put all the pieces in the back of the M5, saved 50+$ AND I did not have to find a way to get rid of the box.

Needless to say that the smirk on the sales person's face left before I did... (lol2)

4 Guys, and all their crap to go RC racing.... All my buddies didn't think we could get it all in there...

I picked up a little minibike for my son the other day (Suzuki DRZ70).
It fit great in the back, I even strapped it down (ever so gently) to the plastic cargo hooks.
I could have probably fit it with the middle row up as well...

Twin Mattress???

I need to buy a twin-sized mattress at COSTCO and was wondering if I'm wasting my time trying to fit it in my 2010 MAZDA5. A twin mattress is 39"x75" and I believe that the narrowest width in the back of the MAZDA5 is 40"....but the length of the mattress won't fit the 67" length cargo area. I'm thinking that I may be able to angle it and get it in...has anyone tried before???

Maybe if you put the front passenger seat all the way forward, and stand it on its edge, rear driver's-side to front passenger-side? Or perhaps you could put the front passenger seatback forward and gain enough space? But I don't think you'd get enough space on the diagonal in a 40x67 space to make a 75x12 (estimating thickness) mattress fit without doing something with the front passenger seat.

If you have the roof rack you could just strap it to that...

Mattress

I unfortunately don't have a roof rack. I think I'll just buy the mattress, take it out to the car and try to get it in...if I fail, I'll just go back into COSTCO and return it.
