Mazda5 Interior / Cargo Flexibility Photos

^^ it's great if you want to sleep in there. We even have 3/4" thick here at the plant, but I was lazy because you basically need a sawzall to cut it.

Went to the dump to dispose of a few small items...

^^LOL at the stove.

...and screw the baby seat base, I'm not uninstalling and reinstalling it again, it stays right there, I'll still make everything else fit ;)

Lol hey it did all still fit!

The stove damaged a small bit of tint on the back window though. :(

I have damaged my headliner quite a bit from bicycle handlebars, and other large objects.

Here's our 5 loaded for a week of camping in Algonquin park.

Tying up kayaks?

Here's our 5 loaded for a week of camping in Algonquin park.

Nice setup of the two kayaks. I just bought the Mazda roof rack a few weeks ago and tied up my 14' sea-kayak on the rack after a few trials of tying it down. I had noticed B5, you had the straps going through the grill. Do you find it okay for I tried that way but was worried about damaging the paint or grill?
I had to modify my front straps to get to the two holes near the front wheels.
Thanks!

Algonquin Park, I like the sound of that. man, are you loaded up there.

Ahhhh it's GOD's country up there. Lots of Bears and Moose. Got be loaded going there, nearest store from our campsite is 45km away one way, unless you count the park store $$$$$ Ca Ching...

HOLY CRAP! I think Mazda should make that a commercial!

Just as long as they dont revoke my warranty for towing with the 5.....(eek2)

Hey Double T, No problem at all. I struggled for about an hour trying to find a point to tie off to that wasn't plastic! Man there is a lot of plastic in the front and the belly pan doesnt allow you to get to anything underneath so finally I found a steel bar going from the bumper to the rad support. It is also what the hood latch attaches to so I used that. It's really solid and I used a "J" hook to grab onto it. I'll post some picks in the next day or two of what I used how I hooked onto it. The rope coming thru the grill just barely touches the grill and it doesnt apply any pressure on the grill at all.
(wow). BTW, the 2nd pic looks awesome...

Add: wife looks at the pics and says it looks like a hard working ant (boom02)

That's makes two of us. Camping for a week wth two boy's is no easy task. I had to come home for a rest!(sleep)

What us car owners do to accomplish stuff eh?

Know what you mean by the plastic underneath, my hands were literally scratched and bleeding from trying to get through some of the gaps to a secure metal piece. Someone at a paddle store found two holes near the front of the axle pass the plastic belly shield underneath. Secure and easy to hook onto BUT no straps were available anywhere at that length. Managed to put two different straps together to form a longer but just as secure piece.

What is your mileage like with the trailer and all that other stuff?
We averaged 10.4 L/100KM or 22.8 US MPG loaded as shown. Not too bad.

I've posted my mileage in this thread http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123746422 and also my whole mileage log here http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=153691&d=1248549976

We are making the same 700km trip this weekend as the July 17 trip in my log, but this time with the trailer. I'll post those numbers after my next fill up and see if the trailer makes a difference or not. My guess is the trailer will not make any difference and we should be able to get 8.3l/100KM.

if not for the nice home depot guy.

I went to get this shed at home depot:

We had to take it out of the box and spend several minutes with a very nice Home Depot person finding the right angles and stacking to get it all in, but it fit and the home depot guy asked, "Is this a crossover?" "Not really." "Who makes this car?" "Mazda" "'Dear Mazda, you'll never guess what we got in your car." "Actually," I said, "there's a whole forum about the amazing things you can get in this car."

I love you mazda 5!

HMMM, Now where did those instructions go.....(uhm)

Hey why don't you kayakers just install the tow hook on the front bumper and use that as your tie down point... seems like a pretty obvious solution to me.
