Mazda5 Furano - Passenger side rear door won't open!

The passenger side rear door stopped working.
Out of nowhere the handle wouldn't work. Outside or inside. So I tried from the drivers door button but it only beeps twice when trying to open it and does nothing.
So I tried the outside handle and after pulling it twice I heard that something broke off as the handle is now very loose and won't go back itself.
Not sure what to do. Anyone has the same experience?
Thanks

It looks like Mazda5 Furano is a "first gen" Mazda 5 in the US.
Sliding doors internals are the same for the first and second US gen, so, hopefully, what is written below, applies to your car. I also hope I remember everything correctly and make no mistakes.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Several things can fail in the sliding door.
There's a tab on the handle, that can easily break, my toddler did this once.
Symptom: outside door handle loose and won't retract back when pulled, see fig. 1.
However, if this is the only problem, then the door can be opened by inside handle.

If the inside handle is not working, it's something about the cable(s), see Fig.2 or a failed actuator.

Check your DM for a reference video of door disassembly.
