Check this out --> http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.efe0c77/0 Particularly post #6. Contrary to my belief, there appears to be tons of competition brewing from our Japanese neighbors in the next year or two. Kia has always been junk IMO and Honda has lost my trust in quality these past few years. Toyota would be the only one of the bunch I'd consider over the Mazda5, but I'm a little doubtful that they'd find room in their line up for this next to the Matrix. I wouldn't be surprised, however, if they do... I mean, look at Toyota's SUV line up. There's plenty of overlapping of similar features and specs between them. That being said, I've ordered a Mazda5 already, and plan to stay loyal regardless of what comes out. Mazda's the one with the balls to do it first in North America, so I'll give them my business.
So what do you guys think? Are any of these actually on the radar for production in North America or is it all rumor? The Latitude, it seems, has been rumored for several years now and we're still waiting? It seems like Mazda's confident others will join in the micro-van market as even in their brochures the throw out lines like "It's crazy how much sense this makes." or especially "Remember you've seen it here[Mazda] first." Now that Mazda has proven the micro-van can actually sell here (and especially with insane gas prices), perhaps other big dogs are finally planning to try a hand in it too?
