Mazda3S RearView Mirror Changeout?

Has anyone changed out their Mazda3S RearView Mirror?

It is driving me crazy - it is too small and hangs down too low - it takes away half of my driving vision up front.

Any help appreciated.

Have you tried simply moving it up? Meaning; pivot the arm connecting the mirror to the windshield up. However, you'll notice that as you move the mirror higher, you won't be able to see as far behind the car since the slope of the roof will cut off the line of sight. It's a toss up - if you keep it low, you can see further behind the car, but obstructs more of the windshield - if you move it higher, you will have more windshield, but less rear view area.

Changing it out would involve breaking the glue seal and then removing the base from the windshield, unless your new mirror can somehow use the same base piece.

Personally, I keep mine as high as I can get it and deal with the limited rear view area. I try to compensate by angling the side view mirrors a little higher. I wouldn't want to give up the compass and the auto-dimming feature just for a little bit less windshield obstruction.

Thanks for the info. I moved the rearview mirror as far up as I could.

I also did not realize that the front driver's seat has a level\height adjustment and it was set at the highest mark - with that down to the correct level the vision is much better.

I stuck one of those mirrors over the stock rear view mirror that lets you see everything and eliminates all blind spots. It's nice.

Have any of you who are complaining about the small size of the rear view mirror REALLY looked into it closely? The width of the mirror shows the view out of the rear window perfectly. Any larger and you'd just see more of the inside of your car.

Maybe those of us that are complaining want to see more of the inside of the car...

It depends on how far away from it you sit also. I shift around alot and if you move out of how you sit its small enough where you need to adjust it again.

Just bought a 3s- strato blue fully loaded, love it!

But of course, I'm used to my old car which had a larget rear-view mirror...I'd like to do a swap out of course, but not sure how to remove the existing one- is there a screw hidden somewhere?
