MAZDA3 and MAZDA6 tranny swap

and if we change from 5 to 6speed, do we need to reprogram the ECU, or is has nothing to do with it...

the auto trannys are computer controlled, meaning putting in the 6 speed auto won't work without a standalone or reprogramming the ECU (good luck!)

you can swap the 5 speed MANUAL trannys of course, the one on the mz6 has a better final drive (for road racing/acceleration)... it has the same ratios as the JDM axela (japanese 3) tranny... the stock tranny (the one on the 3) for the US version is geared towards economy because many north americans b**** about "high rpms" on the highway

If someone could find out if that was possible, that would be cool. After i get back from iraq, i wanna do a engine swap to the 2.3 with the 6speed tranny, so been wondering what it would take to do that.

the engine is the same, the gearbox is the same.... so there's NO reason at all that the clutch and flywheel wouldn't interchange!

I don't know about the gear ratios in australian versions, so you'll want to make sure that the mazda6 one is better than the 3's... what I have posted applies to the US/Canadian versions only

That would be great since our tranny is very weak. But I dont
understand what you are saying...why spec (or any other clutch company) would make two different clutches for the 3 and the 6 if only one would be necessary for both tranny??

y not take it back to dealer, ur car should still have warranty...
