Mazda turbo retrofitting

Hello all- although I've owned my MP3 for about a year and racked on 17,000 mi, I'm new to this board. I searched through some threads looking for information confirming MAZDA being able to retrofit our 2.0L engines with the turbo on the MAZDASPEED protege, but didn't find any hards "yes" or "no".

Seems like it'd be worth $3,000- $4,000 installed at the dealorship, with warranty honored. Otherwise, probably more efficient to just buy a MAZDASPEED engine and have them swap engines.

The turbo would finish out this car perfectly, but I'm just not willing to risk sacrificing the warranty or emissions on an aftermarket turbo. Does anybody know for sure if a Mazda turbo kit is available or will be? Will they have to do the clutch also? Does the mazdaspeed use bigger injectors?

I don't think Mazda has announced if the kit will be sold seperately or not. As far as whether it will fit or anything, as far as I know the engine is exactly the same. Injectors should be the same. If you want Mazda to warranty the clutch they would have to install it. Same with the LSD.

The Mazdaspeed website located through Mazda USA's site says that they plan on offering "parts" from both the MP3 and Mazdaspeed Protege at special "Mazdaspeed Dealerships"...

I haven't heard anything else about what parts. It would make sense that they would offer the turbo bits, since they offer everything from the MP3 at the dealership.

i dont believe if we get an aftermarket turbo on on our MP3's insurance would go up at all. Also I'm not exactly sure of the warrenty I would assume that it would be invalid.

I was told that Mazda was not planning on selling the turbo as an aftermarket kit, by someone at a company that imports MAZDASPEED stuff. It seemed like he knew what he was talking about. He did say however, that the LSD would be available through dealerships.
