mazda speed 3 question

yo guys i was wondering if the mazda speed 3 came in a automatic transmission?
was never a big fan of stick but really would like the mazspeed3 for the 100+ HP it gives.

if you would have searched first or even googled or even looked at specs of a ms3 you would have found out that all ms vehicles including the ms3 are manuals.

you are talking about mazdaspeed vehicles. regular 3's come in both manual and auto. You made a thread specifically about a mazdaspeed 3.

does the mazda 3 5 door, sport automatic come with shift paddles on the steering wheel?

Haha no, but they have the manu-matic or auto-stick feature where you can shift gears without the clutch. The auto-stick is pretty good for being well an automatic pretending to be a manual because it doesn't shift for you, it will hit the red and stay there if you don't shift up.

The Mazdaspeed only comes in a manual and thats because it was built to be a sports hatch. It's not targeted to a mass group of individuals.

The automatic in the 3 hatches suck, I have an 07 with the automatic with the sport shifter and auto stick feature. I have had my transmission replace already at 15,000 miles and it shifts horribly right now at 37000 miles. The auto stick also down shifts for you sometimes. I haven't held mine in the red long enough for it to up shift. It also doesn't act like a manual, it picks the optimal shift time after you shift it to shift the car. I really hate mine, wish I would have gotten a manual.

Hope this helps you avoid some of the issues I have had.

Seconded, but I had no choice and the auto-manual is a good compromise, IMO. But yeah, shifting isn't shifting in the traditional sense.. it's more like a request for the car to shift up or down at the next available opportunity, of course hoping that 'immediately' is among the available options.

For example, I've noticed that if I'm pushing the throttle harder the up-shift tends to be delayed whereas if one's accelerating "normally" it tends to shift more immediately. Also, I've learned when I need to "shift" (i.e. enter a shift request) in order to affect the desired gear change at the desired time.

Further, it actually lists the speeds and times at which the TX will up-/down-shift in the Owner's Manual (which, I understand, almost nobody ever reads). (RTM)

I have an 07 iTouring sedan with 67k miles on the car and never had a problem with the tranny, I also think the autostick is one of the better ones I've driven...

Then you've never driven a GTI with DSG? Best 'manumatic' I've ever tested.
