This whole article is quite misleading. Mixing some facts with lots of misinformation. I hate this because it's like they are trying to present the whole thing in a more negative way than it actually is.

This is the fact. If I remember correctly you could install a 3rd party remote start (maybe even dealers were able to offer some options) with separate fob. Another fact - once Mazda started offering their app and remote start feature plus some other mazda connect features they were always clear about only 2 years free of charge subscription and then pay per use fee. In 2022 even my dealer was not sure how much they are going to charge for it and then here in Canada Mazda introduced 3, 4, 5 years paid subscription after your 2 years trial expires. This year I got some info about little change of plan and even posted it in another thread - some features will remain free and some will cost $10 per month:

Do I like it? - not really and there is the whole controversy about Mazda collecting all driving info but I think there is an option to unsubscribe completely and maybe also install just the remote start through the 3rd part like before.

I just opted out of this Mazda subscription because of all the info they get.
