Mazda Racing Headers Installed

quick question, if you dont mind, what was the end price after the little modification you had done? I have wanted to get a header for a while as I recently decided turbo is more than likely not going to be an option before I trade in for my rx-8 in 2-3n yrs unless 4grand lands in my lap. SO I figured I would puch as much as I can N/A, put in some forged internals and maybe a 25-50shot =)

but I dont wanna spend 450 on just the header either =/

fuggin arospeed and HP and bomz and all them bastards that list their headers and dont actually have them.

I have this same header. I plan on doing the install this weekend if I have time. I will have to get a muffler shop to make a custom flange if I want to use my Bosal Exhaust because I have the Federal version and it came with a three bolt flange instead of a two bolt flange where the header bolts up to the exhaust.
Here are some pictures of the header with Ric's modification of the EGR fitting...

...PICS...

Thanks for the pics!

So I take it he added the top EGR fitting and plugged up the bottom one (MX-6 one)? Or vice versa? Did everything bolt right up (EGR included) or was there still some bending involved? You guys should tell him it worked if it did and he can get the group buy going with the new setup. I want :).

Also, how does it sound, being that there are no cats? :)

get the o2 sensor fix for 22 bucks plus shipping from apex motorsports in tempe az...

ps - where are you from in pittsburgh, thats my hometown before i joined the army?!

Well I used to live in Oakland, I'm a student at Pitt. Right now though I am back at home in Cranberry until I find a new place and another job.

right on i went to pitt for computer engineering...used to play ice hockey in cranberry

Oh yeah I'm a COE too. I have a final today in Diff. Eq's.

How long ago did you graduate? Did you play at the Hut?

The price on the modified header is $350. We did all we could to make it bolt up without any modification on your part. 10 were sent out 2 weeks ago and I am not waiting on feedback.

I left the original egr nipple just in case you sell it on day then you still have the mx/626/probe and protege as potential buyers. It was welded and just need a dril to re-open.

A test pipe was included and necessary to complete the process. Installation is fairly simple. Yes eventually the chrome will change color.

Over all its a great performance piece. It will expand your power band to redline and is almost a 15 hp gain.

so aftershock, are you planning to show your car at HID then? I'd want so bad to ride in your car and see the difference in power from the header. I wouldn't mind getting that done too. I live in oakmont right now which is pretty close to Oakland so if you move back down there when you go back to school we'll have to catch up with eachother. How about going to the AutoX sometime? Let me know if you wanna go. Later.

Racing Mazda,

Just to clarify:

Will the header mate up to the stock second cat, or is the test pipe needed to mate to the exhaust behind the second cat?

If it is the latter, then I'm guessing that the test pipe is a different length than the stock cat?

Thanks!

Dimitrios: You replace both of your cat's so instead of your car being a ULEV think of it as a HIV or '76 nova SS either would proboly put out about the same smog. I live in PA in a county that doesn't have emission testing and there are more trees than cars still so frankly I don't care. you just need to find yourself a lick'um and stick'um or weld yourself on a hi-flow cat.

Yeah I am already entered in HID so it will be on show. Well if you get a chance to ride in it you will ride in it with not only the headers but now since they came in today one month ahead of schedual my Jeff series 5zegin fireball cat back. I think I'm the only one to get this. It looks so freeking awsome I don't knwo how to explain it to you. It came straight off the boat. All the direction, certificate of authenticity are in Japanses. I find humor in that personally. Also my injen R&D CAI came into along with my sparco shift knob and pedals. It's like freeking Chrismas in August! Yeah I'm definatly going to do x-cross sometime I just have to get my schedual worked out so I can fit it in. Just keep reminding me of the dates and I'll try my best to fit them in. Oakdale isn't that far. Its just old exit 5 off the turnpike. I go down to piano's and stuff sometimes. Cranberry isn't that far anyways. I'm going to meet up with Boostisgood too. I've decided to become a judge with him. We should all meet up it Pittracing.com meets again soon.

No it doesn't meet up with the stock second cat. The test pipe is used to connect the end of the header to the rest of the exaust. The test pipe is a different size then the 2nd stock cat. The best thing to do is get a catco hi-flow cat and take to to someone and have them cut the test pipe and weld the cat in there. That would be really simple to do.

I just got off the phone with the guy from Racing Mazda. He says he would do a group buy with 10 people minimum. He says it will take about a month to make them all and he'll do it for 350.00 shipped or 330.00+shipping(we have to choose one option for everyone). I say that's a pretty damn good deal for a full length header. So who's jumpin' on the wagon. Count me in. Let's get this group buy worked out.

I'm pretty sure I only paid 340 for mine shipped. I'm going to go home and check for sure. But $330 isn't a very good group buy if this is the case.

if you can work it out, for that price, im in. will this require me getting the O2 signal modifier or whatever it is?

Yeah I would say go for it. You really get to unlesh some good power. It feels good to get the skinny pedal on the right more power. It'll feel even better after tonight. :-)
