Mazda Protege automatic transmission problems after sort of inundation

Mazda Protege 96 automatic transmission
Hi there I will appreciate any suggestions and help.

Part I: I had no choice but to drive over lots of water slightly above the car floor, no water inside the car but it affected the transmission performance. This was at midnight, I managed to get out of there with the car on, no problems but 12 hours later the car automatic transmission failed. First change ok, second change... stuck, even at 60km/h, at 65 it finally jumped to the next change. They told me they had to change several parts and adjust this and that, pure lies, let's forget about this place.

Part II: the techs couldn't deal with the problem and without authorization took the car to another place, they took lots of things apart and then the car transmission was "kinda working" but really slow, little power. Besides the car went dead at stops sometimes, lower and lower revolutions until dead, I had to turn it on again. After lots of try I managed to replicate the problem, at almost full stop the revolutions went down, normally, but if I made the steering wheel spin it at that exact moment the car would turn off intermediately, and at times randomly would barely advance, very slow.

Part III. I took the car to another place, they diagnosed a failure on the TPS, they told me the car was wrong, driving in 2nd speed at first instead of 1st speed. The alternator IS FINE they say. Well, the car got out of there really BETTER, better automatic changes (even better than before the problem) and now it won't turn off on low speeds while making turns. These new techs told me that's as far they could go as the internals of the automatic transmission are not their specialty (I appreciate their honesty), and they would be happy to keep trying to improve other things.

Some problems remain:

1. On drive I can go full stop hitting the brakes and the car won't turn off, revolutions go down, low, fine, normal. BUT on NEUTRAL the revolutions go down, then up, then down but the car won't turn off and they go slightly up.

2. At parking position, full stop, it almost turns off automatically, but nope it manages to stay on.

Sorry if it sounds like a mess but english is not my first language and I have problems explaining this specific problem. Well the car is better, even than before the inundation. I'm concerned about the alternator but I'm told it's fine. I'm concerned about some sensor being in short or dead after the inundation but so far there is not check engine light and no errors reported by the scanner. I'm also concerned about the "catalizador", catalyst??? The exhaust part...

I will take my car to an specialist on car exhaust to see what happens. Any help will be appreciated. Unfortunately I can't count on the first place to give me information as it was not my choice to take it there and I'm pretty sure there are pure scanners, I was there and witnessed the guys were clueless and made terrible mistakes (no need to explain this part).

I will really appreciate some help or suggestion on what directions to follow. I live in Central America so, it's more about suggestion than naming places on USA to take it there.

Thanks in advance!!!

I would be surprised if water got in the transmission unless the water was over the axles. It could be a sensor on the transmission. But it does sound like the transmission is done. I would suggest finding a used transmission from an auto wreckers. Don't waste time trying to fix yours seems like a list cause.

Yikes :( I will try to get it as better as possible and change car.
It's working better now thanks to a tech friend but still not as before.

I've been reading a lot, too bad I didn't know better but it seems the automatic transmission was never that bad, seems it was on limp mode and the techs couldn't deal with it.
