Mazda CX-3 Push start issues

Good morning, I'm not mechanically inclined but my dad is ...I'm trying to figure this out before I bring it to his attention.

So, today I started my car with my remote start (winter is coming, I wanted to make sure it still worked). Started fine, drove to work and parked, turned my car off. I was fiddling on my phone and absentmindedly pushed the start button again on my car.. nothing happened. No light lit up, radio didn't start, no dash warnings. Nothing. And the brake was locked.

My battery got replaced last year, so I doubt it's the battery. I had to lock my doors while sitting inside and use my remote start to start my car. I let it run for a few minutes, turned it off and started it again, started fine. But now I'm worried about what will happen when I get off work and go to start it again. Anyone have any answers?

I don't know if this pertains to your issue but I received two remotes when I bought my cx 5. I kept one and attached a marking tag to it and gave the other to my wife. For some reason, if she unlocks the car and activates the hatch to open it and close it, when I get in the car (FOB in pocket) and her not present it appears as if my FOB doesn't work until I lock and unlock the vehicle. I have occasionally had to put the FOB up against the Start button to get it to start (this works even with a dead FOB battery). It's as if the car knows each FOB independently. In other words, what you use to unlock it, it expects the same to start it. Did your car come equipped with the remote start option? You should see a little green key imoji in the cluster if the vehicle knows an active key FOB is present.

So I have an after market car starter (I live in a winter city, so it's a must ). I used that remote starter to start my car from my apartment and then I have my fob attached with the starter on the key ring . The green light was there
