Mazda and ***** are the same?

If you want to read a bit about the history of the American Automobile Industry up through the mid-90's, this is a good book. It discusses the dominance of the big 3 in the 60's, the pounding they took in the 70's, their near destruction in the 80's and the comeback of the 90's. I haven't seen an updated copy of this title to include the last decade, but still a pretty good read.

Also a good read about the history of Volkswagen.

I'd try both of these books at your local library as they are getting a bit dated.

everyone with protege's need not worry, there is one actual ford part on the entire car. the Ford EEC-V computer. and while it is a very capable and awesome computer, it still has mazda code in it.

you Mazda 3 people aren't so lucky

I heard somewhere that Mazda had been bought out by Ford....This might have just been a deranged rumor....but in all honesty...it makes sense to me for some reason.

They only own 33.4% of them

Like many people said Ford owns a percent of Mazda, but its not a rebagged car

IE Civics and RSX and G35's and 350Z. I think the closest thing is the Focus but thats more of a sharded parts rather then being identical with a diffrent badge.

Integras and RSX, not civic.

Yeah Ryan said it, we have a great ECU, one of the few things Ford has ever done right, and Mazda screwed us over with a crappy and nearly unbreakable code to run it.

the civic and rsx are built on the same platform. rsx is called integra in japan. just for some minor clarification for those who didn't know.

Mazda Protege - Euro Ford Lynx

same thing, but yes the lynx is based on the protege, not the other way around.

i recall, on BMI that the
RSX/Integra-R was created on its only platform.
But yet RSX shares its platform with civic?

the FS block is in alot of cars, the Ford Escort ZX2 uses it. this is from wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_F_engine

The 2.0 L (1991 cm) FS was one of the last F-family engines. With an 83 mm bore and 92 mm stroke, it produced 130 hp (97 kW) and 135 ftlbf (183 Nm). In 1999 the engine underwent several changes, most notably a distributorless ignition and was called the FSDE.

Applications:

A special turbocharged version of the FS was produced for the 2003 Mazdaspeed Proteg. It produced 170 hp (127 kW) and 160 ftlbf (217 Nm).

In Japan a higher-performance version of the 1993-1997 FS engine was offered with a distributorless ignition and higher compression ratio, known as the FSZE.
