Mazda 6cyl. Tribute - Can it take it?

I own a Nissan Maxima 2000 model. I now have 269,000 miles on this car. It's time for a new vehicle that will use regular gas and get descent gas mileage.

Anybody out there have experience with the reliability and longevity of the Mazda Tribute?

Thanks,
carloponti

i'll be the first one to tell you that they are awesome vehicles, and have pretty good fuel economy for a V6, (yes) mine is going to 40k miles (not too much) but still running strong, the only thing is that stock Continental tires suck, i have replaced 2 of them and going to the 3rd (notcool)

what year are you looking for? i can give you some recommendations and where are u located?

Dont buy a SUV

Every time someone buys an suv, god kills both a puppy and a kitten in the most gruesome way imaginable.

The protege 5 has just as much space and gets much better mpg.

i believe i know a lot about tributes, so much i should be a Tribute moderator, lol, but tributes are in the all mazdas forum

so any question you may have, just let me know

well he also made his point, you can also go for a Protege5 or Mazda3 Hatchback, you will get better MPG, you don't get THE SAME space, but almost, for less money.

I own a 2003 Tribute LX V6 with all options (basically the ES without leather). My wife and I really liked it but I have to say the gas mileage is really bad. I assume that's the way it is for most SUVs, oh well. I would really like to get the Tribute Hybrid. Oh yeah one more thing, the whole engine was replaced recently under warranty. The thermostat stuck shut this past June and the engine overheated. As a result, there was some internal damage. It only had 29,762 miles on it. It's running smooth now but the gas mileage still sucks. We get around 240-260miles per tank. That's a combination of city and highway driving with no heavy acceleration.

yeah, that is the bad side, MPGs, mine had 0 problems up to now *knocks on wood**, just the tires, but mine is a LX with no options, basically a DX with V6 and cruise control, now it has 39, 700 miles.

Yeah i'm also waiting on the Tribute hybrid because i don't like the escape styling, and i'm also waiting for the CX-7, lol
