Back-story of Product Development:
Cosworth contracted Sniper to develop hardware capable of tuning the Cosworth Miata. The found out soon afterwords that this software worked on the RX-8 because they both share DENSO ECUs. The Great NY found out about this and asked them if they could attempt to develop a product for the 6. I volunteered, and they hooked my car up to their equipment and downloaded the OEM tune for them to alter. Once they were done, we came to the basic conclusion that any Mazda with a DENSO ECU is compatible with their hardware, and only require minimal software work. I am due to return to Sniper on the 7th of Feb for further software and tuning work. Product ETA is roughly 1 month. The hardware is available, the software just needs to be tweaked.
Initial Q&A with Sniper.
  1. What are the product options? Don't have names yet but they will basically be from my understanding a unit that plugs into the data port and has a tune in it and your stock tune gets stored in the box.It will have a a non tuneable and a tuneable version.
  2. What are their respective prices? $400 retail for nontuneable, $749 retail for tuneable with software.
  3. What is included with each product? Everything you will need .
  4. Is anything further required for each product to function properly? No.
  5. Can you use the Commando on 2 or more vehicles If they are owned by the same person? No,if you want that capability you will need the delta force software and it starts at $1800 and includes a contract.
  6. Is Sniper capable of altering or removing the speed limiter and or rev limiters? Yes,you can set them at what you want.
  7. Can you alter the seat belt chime? (This process is handled by the ECU) Not at the moment, but they can look into it.
  8. Will it come with an intial tune? No,they have to come up with a database so they can do that, and it will be downloadable.

FAQ:
  1. Once they finish up with my V6, they are intrested in having an I4 come into the shop for a similar process as mine. Bluestreak looks like he might be taking care of that postion.
  2. All Units sold my Sniper are Plug-N-Play. They all use the CAN bus connecter down by your pedals to upload a tune. Once completed it is removed from the vehicle.
  3. Capable of being easily reverted to the OEM tune for dealership trips.
  4. Apex'I SAFC's and CP-E MAFci's will be redundant and useless. You can program the Sniper to compensate for the diameter of the CP-E Intake.
What the interface looks like.

Or you can PM me. Since I started that thread, and am donating my vehicle for testing.

exhaust won't add HP on this car. I pmed you with a link to the thread on the other forum

It sounds just like the Cobb Accessport, only a little better. So you can download the stock tune, put it on your computer, and adjust what you want yourself? That sounds perfect.
