Mazda 6 Brakes on an MX6

I have heard that 2007 Mazda 6 front brakes and callipers are a direct fit to the 91-97 MX6. With the advantage of being larger and more powerful.

Is anyone able to offer some dimensions of the mounting brackets for the callipers so I can confirm this.

If the info I have heard is correct, then it makes for a very reasonable big brake upgrade... although I believe a 17" wheel is required to fit.

It also begs the question... what are the dimensions for the MSP 6 front brakes, and would they also fit... Being even larger discs and 4 pot callipers.

I've also heard that a 2000 Protege has the same rear brakes, only a fraction larger in terms of pad area, but the slightly redesigned brakes eliminate the the all to common seizing issue. They also retain the same fitting for the handbrake, so no modification is required.
