Anyone out there can help?
Navigation System
I just purchased a new 2008 Mazda 5 GT with Navi and car starter installed. I know, I know I could have purchase an after market system most likely better then this one, but I wanted something in the dash with out any hassles.
So anyway I have this car and I do love it. I do like the Navi but not being able to play with it while the car is moving is a pain in the ass. Has anyone heard out there of any quick software fix or something a little more easier then cutting wires to eliminate this issue?
I also heard a rumor that the CX7's were able to play dvd movies too. Does anyone know if this is possible on the Mazda5 units? There must be a site or forum out there that strickly deals with these types of hacks, I would love to know how to find them.

Performance Chips
I saw one on Ebay that says 60hp increase and 20mpg fuel savings. What is everyones option on these chips and do they work? It only costs $9 plus $8 for shipping to Canada.

As for the vehicle, it is sweet.

Thanks

Nav

I have searched the web long and hard for a Mazda NAV hack and have found nothing beyond slicing the HSS wire that gives the NAV unit speed info from the spedometer. This would reduce the accuracy of the Nav unit. I am coming from a Honda/Acura nav into a 08 GT w/Nav (on a boat somewhere) and will really miss this feature. I didn't manually use it while driving so much as my wife did. I did have many preprogrammed locations that I would use the voice feature to navigate through while driving. I am also looking into the possibility of adding a rear camera to the Nav.

Nice Mz5 GT you got..

As for Navi.. i can't give you much info...

As for ebay Power Chip... it is a resister that will mess your engine..!! (or i should say "does nothing")

Don't Don't.. Don't... buy it .. it is a SCAM!!!..(argh)

Welcome to Mz forums..

Thanks

I was thinking the power chips are a scam my self, but wanted to see what others thought.

I was told today that you cannot hook up a IPOD adaptor cable to the Nav system. The guy at the dealer told me this which I didn't know until now. I can supposedly can only use MP3 through the aux port. The IPOD adaptors are only for the regular decks. Does anyone know if this is true?

At the same time when I push the "Source" button, it has two Aux ports #1 and #2 and the Sat Radio icon too. When I plug in the MP3 to the Aux port #1 is being used. Not sure how you access the #2 port.

Thanks guys.

Perhaps you could put a switch on the speed signal and turn it off when you want to make a change on the NAV then flip the switch to turn it back on to increase the accuracy again.

Just another +1 for not messing with bogus chips like that. Think about it logically...if you could have 60hp and 20mpg for $9, don't you think Mazda would have done that?

Regarding the Tint, I couldn't tell you what % it is but when I picked it out there was three samples of darkness on display. I basically choosed the same tint level tipical on the rear windows of Dodge Caravans and made it the same on all windows. It was one down from limo tint. Yes I do like it and it ins't too dark while driving.

I like the switch idea. But I was hoping that someone would know a way to upgrade the firmware or some type of software hack that would eliminate this setup where you can't use it while driving. I'm sure there is a trick out there where you push a series of different buttons to get into a unknown setup option screen to turn this off. Anyone from Mazda software engineering group in this forums that can share these tricks.
