OK, so a friend of mine got a new RSX S, with the vtec engine and he's like well your Mazda 3 is a piece of s***. I want to shut him up, how do you think my Mazda 3s would fare against his RSX S. I don't know anything about acura's, but I know that they can be pretty quick.

Would it be a driver's race or is the Acura have too much of an advantage?

Both are about the same weight 27xx lbs. But the Type S would get ya, 200 hp vs 160 hp.

Sorry. :(

u'll get owned like an idiot... not saying that u ar an idiot...

the price he had to fork out is alot more too....

well if u want to WIN... and not upping anything in ur car... u might as well... screw up his treads on his tires... or something.. lol

Well ya know I was just asking. It's no big deal, my stereo sounds much nicer than his anyway, lol!! when some mods come out maybe I'll take im to the track!!

especially if he got the type s, he overpaid.. think about it.. you could get a fully loaded 3s sedan for around 22 or so.. his type s's base price is around 23,500. I say you got a better deal. Especially if you get any accessory period on the acura.. they kill you on that.

As you can see in my signature below. I have the base model of the RSX and a 3i Sedan. Both are 2004 models and I love both. The RSX can tear up my sedan in the curves because it is so stiff. The M3 handles well but it's not in the same class as the RSX. The torque is slightly higher in the RSX, but the 3i's horspower at the top end keeps on coming till the redline. ;)

The 3i was $17,200 and the RSX was $20,000. The RSX has a sportier look in my humble opinion. Don't underestimate the value of a Honda product, as I will get superior resale at the end in comparison to my M3. I looked at Civics, Accords, Corollas, Camrys and the Acura TSX (European Accord). I wanted the TSX but I couldn't justify the $27,000 pricetag when compared to the 3i's $17K. I bought the M3 because it is a great value and an excellent vehicle. I would have bought a 3s if I could have found one equipped like my 3i with a moonroof.

By the way I've had several Honda products in a row without a single problem requiring a dealer visit. I had the airbag light go on while I was driving the 3i home from the dealer.

I dunno...the 3s had like 160-165 hp right? That 2.3L is quick...if the person driving it is smart, they can get it to almost keep up with an MSP (my friend in a focus with that motor kept up with me before I really knew how to drive it), and Stock MSP vs Stock RSX-s is basically a driver's race. I think that you'd give your friend a good run (thanks to the Torque) and at the end you can remind him how much less you paid.

So how about the msp??? i think the type-s is going to eat dust behind the msp.....

Like someone just wrote, stock for stock MSP and RSX-S is a driver's race. Do very little to the MSP, and it's over - provided the driver knows what he's doing....unless an RSX has a pretty good amount done (Hondata, header/exhaust, etc.), it's not much of a contest...at least from my own experience anyway...

The RSX will take you in a straight race. If you could catch him sleeping alittle the M3 has more low end torque (the S engine moved the power band up) and then keep the race short. You might earn a little respect. Take the extra 5k he spent on his RSX and invest it in M3 upgrades then race him straight out.

OH, he spent MUCH MORE than an extra 5k. He told me his car cost him 26,000. That's almost 10k more than what I spent on my black 3s stick shift!! I think 10k would go a LONG WAY into making a M3s faster than an RSX-S, don't you? (screwy)

10,000 could go into a full custom turbo, exhaust, rods and heads (as soon as they're made) and the install. You'd probably still have enough money left over to put in a crankin' stereo system, too.

Some "friend" you go there for calling your car a POS.

10K?....anyone try dropping a mzi engine in a 3? MZI=220HP V6 Mz6s(hump) and then pwn his ass like richard simmons walking thru compton...after dark. He's not your friend if he talks about your non hondahh vehicle I say be a good friend and hand him this (birthday) ....his ass.

tell the friend who gives a s*** and run to publix get a free cookie and hand it to him b/c he's no better than anyone

They are offering RSX-S' here with leather, and factory lip kits for about 23,XXX. After some talking im sure you could get it down to 21,XXX.

I am a big Honda fan, formerly owned a 97' Accord with a built H22 turbo that laid down 402 to the wheels.

I looked at the RSX, but they are dime a dozen so I opted for the 3 to try to get off of the band wagon.

Hopefully some respected tuners will look at the potential of the engine we have and give us some monster mods.
