Mazda 3 GPS

Im From Puerto Rico. I have a Mazda 3 ES , black, manual. I installed a new carbon fiber exhaust a few days ago. Im lookin for a GPS. I want to install a DVD Player to my car when the GPS is located. Im looking for the dash cover when the GPS is located to install a monitor. Also, Im going to install a new sound system, MTX 801 D, MTX 564 4 channel and 4 alpine speakers.Im going to add pictures of my car soon. Im glad to be part of this Mazda forum. Im 200% mazda fan.

I have a similar question. Does Mazda sell the pop-up screen dash insert? I don't need the screen, just the cubby hole. When I get my 3 there is no way in hell that I would pay $1700 for the Navigation package when I can build myself a carputer for under $500, get a nice screen for $300 and add whatever I want later (i.e. DVD changer, divx movies to the carputer, emulators). Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I asked the same question a few months ago and some yutz gave me a start ass answer about legal and insurance issues but would explain how he knew or what he meant.

If you can find a way to get a replacement for the dash cover. Let me know cuzz I;m looking also.
Sounds like the GPS/DVD thing mazda sells is a waste. I'd like to put my own in there. I was alos trying to find out what the make/model of the LCD screen was so I could have a starting place to search for a new one.

I can understand the smart-ass answer. Thats why I won't put in my new system until AFTER I buy the car and have it insured. It is illegal (at least in the state of CA) to have a monitor in plain view of the driver that displays anything other than GPS info while driving.

Hello Everyvone Again (About GPS)

I went to a mazda dealer, they don't have the parts search on their system. Im going today to the dealer when I Bought my 3. If I can't get that the flip up part when the gps screen is located, I'm going to make a fiberglass flip up part to put a screen, I know a man that makes great modifications in fiberglass and I think that he can help me. I will let you know what the people in the dealer tell me today. Thanks a lot.
