Mazda 3 Autozone intake or Injen?

Ok so I bought an autozone plastic piping intake..I hooked the mass air flow sensor up to it but I put a breather where that cable comes out of the motor instead of hooking it back up..I tried to start my car and it just kept stalling..so I took the mass air flow sensor out and then the car would idle but when I pressed the gas I could tell a huge difference in power..I lost a TON 3,000 RPM's sounded like 6,000 RPM's I am wondering if its bc I had the breather on there and not the cable that was supposed to be connected..I dont even know what the cable is..now I ordered an Injen intake system...do you guys think it should work? maybe the car just didnt like autozones intake?? hmm??? Please help!!!! if I dont get this injen one to work ill have wasted over $350. I just ordered it today tho so who knows maybe it will work but any help would be appreciated. also..I have stock cat converter with a magnaflow cat-back could this have something to do with it??

u sure you installed the MAF sensor in the right direction?

Putting a breather filter and not reconnecting it into the intake should not cause a stall or even any noticeable difference. I run my protege like that for 5 years.

I think there is only one way to install that MAF sensor... I dont think its possible to have it backwards or anything

Sorry, don't know much about the 3. I do know it's possible on other cars, cuz I've done it before and it acted like what you're describing
