Mazada Protege Es, 2003 tune up

Good morning everyone my name is Sebastian Estrada. I recently bought a Mazda Protege ES 2003. It has been giving me some problems, for example sometimes when I accelerate its like the car drowns and loses power and occasionally shuts down. Not only that when youre driving up a road and you give it gas to go faster, it slows down and it never passes 50mp/h. I had the computer checked yesterday and it turned out fine, so my mechanic said that it could be because of a tune up need. He also said it had nothing to do with the gear box (tiptronic). What could it be? BTW, I bought castrol magnatec 20w50, is that ok?

20w50 is a little thick. Recommended oil is 5w30.

As far as you original problem- start with all the basic stuff: air filter, spark plugs..... Could need new coils and wires.

Before you say the oil is too thick you should consider the climate that the car is operated in and check the owners manual for a recommendation.
