May 19th Gas Cut-off

Here's a little reading for those of you who failed economics, it restates EXACTLY what I said two posts previous.

So in summary, rebels without a clue, you must actually refuse to use a product to cause finaincial hardship on a company or industry, not just not buy it one day and buy more the next.

Do I need to round up a shitload of 75 year old black folks to show you guys what a boycott is?

This also restates what I had said about 5 posts prior to Atreyu's first post.

yeah its not going to hurt the industry but at least it would make a small statement (if a large portion of people were willing to follow it). no its not going to change anything but neither were the protests against this horrendously stupid war that is raging, yet I and a record number of others went out and protested anyways. you can't hurt the oil industry but at least make an attempt to say something rather than just keep buying KY and thanking them for giving it to you like the dirty little ****** we all know we are :D (upbum)

:runs to wait for this email forwarded by mom:

Just because I don't buy gas for one day doesn't mean everyone has sold their stocks, and seeing as how major companies like Exxon-Mobil (or whoever they are) don't publish their financial information until every quarter, you'd never know that your one day did nothing.

What everyone else has said is right:
You won't change the world with one day
The next day will make up for one day's losses
Gas here is not expensive
People need to change driving habits/vehicle ownership to make a difference

You wanna know how I stick it to the oil companies? I ride my bike to work, school and friend's places.

You need to know a little more about the way finances work to understand the full impact. It's a matter of demand, a matter of "closing numbers" at the end of a "stock day", etc. An extremely low number on that one day, even if you buy the next day, would hurt them alot. People just need to hold hands in this action....
