May 19th Gas Cut-off

I received an email stating the following and I figured I share with you guys:

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.
AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR behind " DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY. THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THIS ADMINSTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

This isn't a gas crisis... so we pay over $2.00 a gallon for gas. Most of the rest of the world pays the equivalent of $4-$5 a gallon for gas, and we're complaining? Every single summer people complain about the prices of gas....it's just that this one is the worse than in the past.

it wouldnt be as bad as they claim it to be. So we don't buy gas for one day, the next day will make up for it. People still have to get places.

one thing to mention is even if every american boycotted gas purchase on one day that means the next day would have an over abundance of gas sales that would just boost their totals higher.

Yep yep. And we are never going to run out of gas either. That is a farce. The laws of supply and demand and economics will take care of that. It may cost 12,000 a gallon but it wont be all gone.

I heard an analyst say that if everbody was to only fill up half a tank of gas for one week they would lose 4.6 billion or something along those lines. I agree something should definitely done I also agree with all those people who are tired of those SUV owners who are simply poluting the earth for no god damn reason.

I drive A LOT for work I fill up about every 2-3 days. I can go without buying gas on May 19th...The only problem is, I'll get gas on May 18th AND May 20th anyways...So, where do they lose money from me?

The thing is that unless demand changes there will be no significant impact. Dont fill up on the 19th fill up on the 20th. Its not like people are going to change their driving habits.

You would have to get everybody to not CONSUME any fuel on the 19th to make an impact. The demand and usage is the same otherwise.

AGREED. Don't buy into this s***. Do your lan admin and ISP a favor and Delete it in your email and move on with life. Why does anyone believe this stuff.It's common sense that doing it for one day would not accomplish a thing. Now, one month, that would hurt them, but it will never happen.

You need to know a little more about the way finances work to understand the full impact. It's a matter of demand, a matter of "closing numbers" at the end of a "stock day", etc. An extremely low number on that one day, even if you buy the next day, would hurt them alot. People just need to hold hands in this action....

Unless you plan on using LESS gas this won't do anything. It will effect bottom line numbers for one day. But the boost in sales the next few days will do alot to recover. If no one DROVE on the 19th that might help but thats not reasonable. People will still have to fill their tank. Whether it's the night of the 18th in order to go without on the 19th or the 20th because you damn near ran dry on the 19th.
