Maximum official load capacity of `10 MS3? How much weight can it haul safely?

I'm sure someone can chime in with some official specs, but I'm sure you're within spec. Googling GVWR I found specs for the 2007 model, which you probably already know is almost the same spec as the 2010 model, but has slightly softer springs even. The '07 GVWR is 4114lbs, and the curb weight is 3153lbs. That's 961lbs worth of people and stuff....

It's pretty safe to assume that the 2010 is no worse than that.

I've always scoffed at those who have MS3's and tow jet-ski's and small boats, but then again, if they're towing s*** like that, I can't imagine it being a problem with all that weight in the 2010 MS3.

FYI trailer towing.

What is the official maximum load capacity of `10 MS3? How much weight can it haul safely?

I was just on the Mazda website looking for this info and could not find it... unless I missed it. This info is likely in the owner's manual which I do not yet have. Maybe someone could check for me.

I know the MS3 is technically a "5-passenger" car, but I doubt they expect you to put 5 large adults in it at once.... that would be at least 1,000 pounds... I'd tend to doubt that the MS3 is designed to haul 1,000 pounds. But...?

I need to carry a lot of fairly heavy gear for work, and I'm concerned here. Today I'm literately going to weigh all my gear and come up with a total weight. Then factor in my weight and the weight of one front passenger. I hope I'm able to slide in under the official weight load spec for this car.

I'm not only concerned about the car not having the power to haul a high degree of weight for a long period of time (possibly up hills at highway speeds etc), but also concerned about the suspension, bottoming out, squatting in the rear, etc.

So if someone could post the official max load capacity for the MS3 (in terms of weight), that would be extremely helpful. Thanks. I'm gonna go get my scale now and start weighing stuff.

My current larger SUV can carry all my stuff with no problem, but the car does sag a bit in the rear when loaded and I can definitely "feel" the weight. So I'm getting a hair nervous that my gear may weigh a bit more than I think. Well, I'll know soon.

Well... this just gives me another good reason to watch my beer gut. (cheers)

AFIKA Mazda has never recommended trailer towing for their CARS. I haven't looked at my 2008 MS3's owners manual but every other Mazda CAR I've owned does not recommend it.

For me I'd rent a truck if I had to tow something periodically. Of course if you frequenctly tow stuff then the MS3 is probably not for you. That is unless, like yourself, you have a SUV on the side. :-)

I also thought I'd mention that I highly doubt you'd ever have to worry about bottoming out the wheels into the wheel wells because the bump stops would prevent that much travel from ever happening, at least with the stock wheels/tires.

it can just barely handle 7 small adults. I fit 7 people in my car. Stock suspension. Scraped on hills. :P

actually.. might have been 8
