s*** man, I'd like to be remembered for something other than that...Obsidian said:HAHAHA!!! You would have been a legend then!! "The man whom blew a block in half"
i havent blown an engine yet thank God, but if ur gonna boost anything over stock just make sure that u put about 4k dollars aside cuz u never know(even with an EBC)..computerGeek said:The reason i ask is because i know with a Boost/Vac Guage it is hard to see a spike and its Actual amount becuase it can be so quick so i was wondering if ...
A) you all had MBCs which tend to spike high and with that there is no electronic log to see what happened
B) if you were running a EBC with a display and saw what happened when it blew. Also EBCs have a much lesser tendency to spike (as much atleast).
Any input will be greatly appreciated for all of us that are currently having nightmares!!!!

Some people have had problems at stock boost with the motor, others have been running 12 psi for a year now.
Hard to say what is exactly safe.
And about 7000 RPM for a few miles!Brian MP5T said:I wasn't running boost controller at all. Just Tial 35mm.

Is it time for a rebuild ?t3ase said:An EBC vs MBC will not decide if your engine will blow or not. Both spike/creep. Regardless, I've been running 14psi for around 45k and within the past month or two, I've introduced it to occasional 18psi. I changed spark plugs a few weeks ago with good (~180) compression on all cylinders and a week later read 90psi in cyl3, after a few highway trips to Waco and back without much boost.
As pat said, these motors look good for a while and then when it gets hungry, it devours itself. When it's hungry, nobody knows.
If you up the boost, *BUY A COMPRESSION TESTER*. I bought mine for $20 and it's the best tool for reassurance or "getreadyness" that I've ever bought.
