Mats

Has anyone noticed the bald spots on their DRIVER'S side mats??? I only have 1300 miles on my car...if so join me and call CORPORATE. I am waiting to hear back from them.

I use an all-weather mat on the driver's side for that very reason. Carpet mats never last on the driver's side. I wish they'd put rubber/plastic/anything where your heel hits, but I rarely see car companies do that.

When I took delivery of my car, it had both mats... carpeted AND rubber ones. I just left 'em like that. The carpet ones are under the rubber ones right now. :)

I also received the carpet and the rubber, but I've never had a problem like this before (bald spots), I've only had my car for 6-7 weeks. This is a joke, I want MAZDA to give me new mats.

You probably could just swing by the dealer and complain, I think there's a pretty good chance they'd replace them.

P.S. - I can't believe you've never had bald spots on car mats. In my experience, all it takes is a couple weeks of driving with hard-heeled dress shoes.

And this will solve the problem...how? Same mats, same problem in the same length of time.

See if your dealer will pay to have an upholstery shop stitch a piece of heavy vinyl over the hole or in the general area where your heels rest. Or just use your all-weather mats all the time, which is what I do. Since the "carpet" is one step up from felt, you'll have to have something.

That's a good idea. I doubt the dealer will be able to do it, but you could probably take the driver's side mat to a seamstress or shoemaker and have them stitch on a piece of rubber/vinyl/etc. over the spot which wears the most. I'm kinda considering that...

These are the worst carpeted mats I've ever seen in a new car. I have deep wear under the heel after ony 300 miles. Also took them out to vacuum them and the edges are fraying after a quick hit of the vacuum cleaner.

The carpeting is terrible, too. There's an upper-level just behind the driver's floor mat, there is hardly any cloth showing there, looks like they sprayed some fake-felt on plastic for the "carpeting."

Looks like aftermarket floormats are going to be essential, whenever somebody comes out with some that fit.
