Magnecor ignition wires

(uhm) I've been looking into getting some new ignition wires: a friend told me some good things about Magnecor. Anybody out there have them? What do you think?

These would be the same type of wires as the Nology wires that are being sold for the Protege in the GB on this forum?

Guess so, I didn't notice the GB. Here's their site; they sound pretty respectable. I was wondering what people thought b/c they make their wires specific to the Mazda 3 (along with hundreds of others) and claim to be the "real thing", if you're looking for wires that'll actually do some good.

Ummm... the Mazda3 doesn't have ignition wires. It's Coil-Over-Plug.

I'm confused...the 3 doesnt have spark plug wires???? Or are they not the the same as ignition wires??? sorry for the ignorance, just looking to learn some

No, it doesn't have spark plug wires. It has one ignition coil per cylinder that sits directly on top of the spark plug.

Open your hood and have a look!!

Well, doesn't the Protege/P5/MSP have coil packs as well?

What are the Nology wires replacing in that case?

Two coil packs for the proteges (2.0L anyways) They sit directly atop two of the spark plugs, two plug wires are needed to run to the other cylinders.

Oh, and the protege nology kit relocates the coil packs from what I hear. For this reason, they are the only plug wires that come with 4 wires.

I ordered the Nology wires and should have them in a couple days....
They DO relocate the coil packs to another part in the engine bay, and then run the wires from the coil packs to the plugs. The packages costs $230 PLUS shipping....These are actually for the focus, but Nology claims they have tested on the 3 and they work. Either way its a full refund so we'll see. Also, per Nology, moving the coilpack away from the sparks and then running wires actually makes an even larger spark than with just the nology wires(dont ask me how)......I'll let you guys know, and of course they come in 7diff colors...I ordered the blue...

What is the benifit of relocating the coils and adding wires?

I suppose this would enable you to change all the coil-packs to some ultra high voltage, This may be required for ultra high boost applications!

I'm still wondering, what's the benifit for non high compression/non turbo 3's?

So you guys think its BS? IF they were to work, would you be able to see any gains on a dyno? I'm thinking that if thats the case, I'll do a run before and after installation....and if its bs then I'll return them....But can anyone confirm if the gains will be seen on the dyno?

If you willing to try..go for it.
I suspect there will be no increase whatsoever, but I would love to be proved wrong.

Everyone's looking for quick and easy upgrades. I'm sure the whole Mazda 3 community would appreciate you confirming this for us!

Just got tracking number from Nology, they package will be here today and I'll attempt tomm/sunday and try t post Monday am. Since not many people seem to be rolling the dice on these kinds of things, I figured I'd be the guinea pig this time....I just hope someone else does the same next time.....I'd love for someone to attempt the Intake Mani from Corksport/Cosworth......

I dont neccessarily expect any kind of noticable HP gains out of this, but I do expect for better response, maybe less throttle lag, better MPG, and just smoother in general...I do expect to maybe see a small increase on a Dyno...but by small I mean +1-2 on HP & tq....Does anyone think this is likely??? Not trying to start any problems...just want to know if I'm being realistic or dreaming....

While we're at it maybe we can get a pool going!!!

Anybody know of a reputable shop w/ a good(hopefully deadly accurate) dyno in South Florida??? Preferably Miami? Ask around...

hmm this is a very interesting subject, so interesting that i registered just so i could post this, unfortunately i have been checking into the pricing for this product and it appears that you have slightly overpayed because it can be found at nopi.com for 202 dollars and some change, but here is the thing that no one has mentioned, on nology's web site they have detailed instructions on how to install the product on the focus, the thing the i noticed is that they show the instructions with the "power core" product as well, now to me this seems very important because without this i dont see how these wires could do anything better than stock, but with the power core amplifiers i believe they could make a substantial difference in throttle response. My questions to tgv121281 is did the package you ordered come with the powercores and if not do you plan on getting them? also where did you buy your wires from? because nology doesnt seem to sell them directly on their site.

What I was told is that what I paid for includes everything needed to make this work....I'm fairly new to the scene so unfortunately I have to find out the hard way...

Also, you can contact Nology directly...go to the site and clicl contact us...ask for jeff in sales dept.

Some bad news as well guys....Just got a call from Jeff and they didnt send me the mounting bracket for the coilpacks...it should be here by Monday...so looks like its not happening this weekend...But I'm gonna test fit what I can to see whats up...
