LSD replacement price quote

So Im sitting at Mazda right now waiting for them to give a price quote, but i wanted to check to see how much you guys paid to have your LSD replaced.

Mine's fine at the moment, but after reading all of the horror stories, I'd rather go ahead and put a better one in now, rather then have to worry about it down the road. Im also going to put in a better clutch while they have it cracked open.

My thoughts are to get the one from protegegarage and then have them put it it, so I'm mainly looking for labor costs.


Also, I swear that I saw a transmission kit somewhere(i thought it was at protegegarage) that had the new LSD and 3rd and 5th gears as a package for 800.. Does anyone know where I saw that? I can't find it now.

i think your trippin on that deal haha, i bought the welded one from pg for 619 and paid like 630 for same day install

yah, I've been to so many mazda sites trying to find a good price that I can't remember where/ when I saw it, so I may very well be crazy.


Mazda quoted me 1200(just labor) to install the LSD and clutch which is friggan outrageous.

Where did you guys go to have it installed? i'm kinda limited in Louisville as to who will even touch it.

i just took it to a local transmission place, i looked in the phone book in my area and called the ones that said they did diff work, the avarage price i got was about 650

haha....me being a former employee of mazda service....i broke my lsd (see picture of lsd in my signature below) and it cost $2,000 for a new one and labor...so good luck!

danm why such i great car is plagued with such BS problems, these repair prices are(nailbyt) but the messed up thing is that if you DONT do it b4 itll prolly be twice a pricey (notcool)

599 for welded LSD and 800 to install that along with new clutch and flywheel.
