lowering springs

So I got some lowering springs for my LX last summer. I cant seem to get them on though. I took the wheel off, unbolted the shock from under the hood. Sorry I don't really know all the car parts under the hood, err behind the wheel rather. But there is one bolt that is like, welded to some kind of support bar. One bar goes up and is attatched to the shock (i think). the other bar goes down under the car, and attaches to the same bolt on the other side, i think. Anyways, it loks like I need to take this bolt off to let the shock down so I can take the spring off. I have spring compressors but theres not enough room to get them on right without taking the shock off. There is a very similar bolt on the rear shocks with the same problems. I'll try and get a pic up. meanwhile, anybody that has down this... what the **** do I do?? Should I be concerned about twisting this rod when taking the shock and spring off? Cuz I dont wanna screw up the entire suspension or anything. Again , I try and get a pic up later today. thanks in advance.
