Ive got a 2004 V6 Mazda 6 manual transmission. Its got a little over 110k on it and I have greatly enjoyed it thus far. I bought it in March and its my first "nice" car. But I have had some problems with it...
1. The check engine light would come on intermittently and I got the code from an OBD and the code said it was the EGR. They said it might effect my MPG but I didnt really notice anything. They said that it might need to be replaced or just cleaned but it was nothing major. The check engine light has not come back on in a month or so.
2. Within the past 2 weeks it starts fine and goes into 1st just fine (1st-2nd it shudders a bit). Upon getting into second gear the revs have really bumped up quite a bit, like up to 3500 before the power catches up. Does the same thing in 3rd and 4th, 5th is not as bad. I noticed a hose at the top of the engine had collapsed today so I replaced it as well with my air filter.
3. Driving on the highway last week I put it in cruise control (with the power problem not as prevalent but still there) and was cruising just fine then when it came time for the cruise control to accelerate the car, the cruise control totally cut off. It has continued to do so.
I have no idea if these problems are totally independent of each other or what, im not really a car dude. If anyone has any first hand knowledge or experience with this I'd really appreciate your input.
