Low & high beam headlight bulb upgrade/replacements?

I would like to replace the low and high beam headlight bulbs in my 08' hatchback. I pulled them both and the low beam doesn't look like any kind of light buld I have ever seen. They have some kind of black extension on the back of what is called a universal bulb. I looked up the upgrades on a website and the they do not have the black extension piece on them. Will they still fit properly or do I need that black extension for it to fit properly?

The "extention" is an adapter. I think the 3's have H7 low beams like the Pro5. If you are to buy upgraded bulbs, you will need that adapter! DO NOT THROW IT AWAY!! lol

But, if you're looking to upgrade bulbs, can I suggest saving the coin on replacing Silverstars ever few months and pickup a set of Apexcone, or TechOne HID's from one of the autherized vendors on here.

Thanks for the info about the adapter. I thought that it was an adapter but wasn't sure. I am guessing it just pulls off the old bulb?
