so yesterday i launched my car and about 2500 rpms, when i did so i heard a loud bang coming from the front of my car before the wheel hop kicked in... no it wasnt the wheel hop, i know what that sounds like. I already have a new motor mount on order if thats the problem, but i want to know where to look for any damage so i can get it fixed. anyone ever experience this bang or know what it is?

That's the noise you get when hard launching with the stock rear mount. We've all had it on hard launches. The SU Mount has reduced it a great deal on my car.

Thats right,Its wheel hop..I dont get any wheel hop since I changed mine.

the sound is NOT wheel hop, i know wheel hop, and i know intense wheel hop too. this sounded like the mount was flexing and my exhaust hit something

We all get that bang (those of us who haven't swapped mounts)

I don't do clutch drop launches anymore for this reason. Dunno for sure what that sound is but it sounds expensive and painful.

Been thousands of miles since I heard that sound, nothing seems to be worse off for it.

You shouldn't drop the clutch when you launch anyways, you will just bog. Turbo's do better if you slip the clutch when you launch, and it's easier on the drivetrain (but of course, will wear your clutch out faster).

I'm guessing that it is the stock rear mount flexing the rubber enough to the point that the metal part hits the area it is installed in, or something of that matter. I had it once and it was on a 1-2 shift. Since my motor mount install, I've had no abnormal sounds.

i dunno if its from the smack i got or not, but there is actually a crack on the plastic part near the grille. ill take pics of the crack, but for now here is an older pic. The crack is right where the yellow rag is in that pic.
