lost my WINDSHIELD!!!

well I am venting...so there ya go!!

I was called out to work today....wasn't supposed to be there...but was called and told I had to come in....I decided to drive the P-5 since my truck was full of gas and I had to take it on a long trip tomorrow and didn't feel like having to fill it back us AGAIN before we left....on my way to work a frickin buzzard hit my windshield and took it OUT!!! nearly came all the way through the damn thing.....here I am with a NEW car, not even 3300 miled on it and a frickin buzzard nearly comes through my windshield....not only is it going to cost me the $150 to have it replaced...but its going to cost to have the registration sticker replaced...AND I will have to pay to have the safty inspection redone...grrrrr....and in texas you get a safty inspection that is good for TWO years when you buy a new car....and the ones after that are only good for ONE year....so now I am going to have to get it done AGAIN next year too!!! DAMN FRICKIN BUZZARDS!!!!!!

the worst part yet...is if I had taken my truck....its windshield is already cracked...and had it busted that one I really wouldn't have cared!!!! s*** s*** s*** s***!!!!!!!

Anyways, i thought you have FULL waranty for a certain time, you said the car is brand new so won't the dealership take care of it? That sucks man, I am sorry to hear that. Good luck with it though. dealer? warrentee? ahhhh NOPE>....I mean...if our car is under warrantee and you have an accident is the dealer going to fix it under warrantee? I dont' think so....same applies here.

and you are right...had I taken the truck in .... I wouldn't have been at the same place at the same time....but hey...that 20/20 hind sight is a wonderful thing, isn't it!! :{D

a buzzard...its a BIG BLACK UGLY BIRD....its a scavanger...like a vulture only smaller....so you see them on the roads a lot eating whatever else got hit.

That is sooo funny Bad Boy! I didn't want to sound stupid either, but for a sec I forgot what a buzzard was! It's just that in Cali, we don't have many of those (if any at all)!!! Guess I'm glad we don't.. Sorry to hear about your troubles Sir Nuke. You've always been one of my favorites around here - always really nice and helpful. Bad things just happen to good people...

Thank You for the kind words Dragonfly....and its okay....its only the glass...it could have been a lot worse....it could have hit MY side of the car...it COULD have come through the windshield....it COULD have ripped off the roofrack or flopped over and taken out the sunroof...or even worse...hit me...and made me have a nasty wreck....but NONE of those things happened.

SO, I went in and worked for 6 hours.....that overtime money will pay for the new glass and some more......no real harm done. :{D

Buzzards can cause some serious dammage. Just imagine if it had hit your grill, radiator, and such.. That would REALLY suck! This is my 600th post.

Wow. A buzzard! Never happens in NY (a deer maybe upstate, a pedestrian in the city, but a buzzard?)

I remember we were on a family cross-country trip in our 1971 Ford Econoline Club Wagon - (a month long camping trip with the WHOLE family) when dad clocked a roadrunner in Texas. It was in the grill of the van frozen in time and a whole lot deader than any Acme product could have made it.

It was fun trying to convince my little sister that dad was not really Wile E. Coyote, Super Genius! "Daddy, you killed Roadrunner!"

Glad to hear you're alright. I had a friend who collected a deer one night on his hood. It kicked in the windshield and damn near took him out with his hoofs.

Linux...you got that right....in retrospect...I got off lucky....the glass is an easy fix....and it was the ONLY damage....

Bob, where I work...its 22 miles out in the country....in the middle of farmland......we have ALL sorts of hazzards to deal with on the roads here...

buzzards, hawks, owls, falcons, just to name the big birds to watch for eating other dead stuff on the roads...

then there are raccons, oposums, armadillo's, skunks for the LITTLE stuff...

then we get into the serious big stuff...Deer and wild hogs...and there are a lot of them around her....you want to see some serious damage done? hit a 200 to 300 pound wild hog at highway speeds.....seen it happen....completely total a full size pickup truck.....its like hitting a birck wall. at times the grass along the sides of the road grows up 4 feet tall before the county comes and mows it down....and they (the hogs and deer) an easily hide in there and dart out at the last second and leave you totally helpless to avoid them.

coming to work one morning I actually watched as the hog ran BEHIND my buddies car and the p/u behind us nailed it .....we were only doing about 40 at the time as the hog was running down the side of the road and people could see it....it knocked the hog off its feet....it slid across the highway into the grass...and GOT UP AND JUMPED THROUGH THE FENCE AND RAN OFF!!!! these suckers are hell for stout and meaner than you can imagine.

Korey, I didn't mention the dealer and a warrantee...someone else did...I just commented that it wouldn't be covered....like having an accident and wanting the dealer to cover it under warrantee...yeah right...we AND the insurance companies wish! lol

YES the frickin bird died!!!! that would have REALLY pissed me off had it trashed my windshield and not bitten the bullet.

I was really pissed at the time...but looking back...if it was going to happen....at least all that got axed was the glass...NO other damage....had it hit the car ANYWHERE else...it could have really been bad.

Sorry to hear it man. I know I'd be pissed. I know how pissed off I was when I came out to the car after being in the mall, and a grocery cart had made it's way ALLLL the way across the parking lot to hit the only car there....which was of course mine. The car was 6 days old. Luckily it made very tiny dents that can't really be seen, and no scratches at all. But I was PISSED over that, and that's no where near as bad. Now I park somewhere where carts have to go uphill to get to me.

And where I live, we have lots of moose, caribou etc and other small critters as well. Dangerous stuff man. I lost a relative 2 years ago to one, so consider yourself lucky.

Hey, You could have freaked out after being hit, and drove into a ditch, flipped over, bounced off a rail, down a cliff, into the ocean......well, maybe not.



At least the bird is dead. There's justice in that at least. Just make sure they do the seels on that windshield right.

well it could have been a LOT worse....it could have just as easily been a COW!! they get out on that road from time to time...but they are a bit easier to see....however....in 1994 I almost broadsided one and lost control of me then hotrod and totaled it in the ditch....of course that was after going airborne and doing a 180 barrel roll and landing on the roof. THAT was a fun ride!!! lol

Here in florida, we get them damn gators layikng out sunning them selves on the road. Guy Died last week when he hit one going 60 in a full sized toyota tundra. When Police showed up on the scene, they had to kill the gator. That bugger survied!
