lost gasket on short shifter install

I installed my kartboy ss today and between fiddling with the farking retainer clip and reinstalling the whole thing due to backwards pieces, I managed to lose the rubber o-ring that goes just under the retainer clip.

It seems to drive ok (love the shorter throws)- but due to the missing ring, the shifter is loose vertically - I can pull up on it and it moves.

How bad is this to drive on?
Where could I get another one?

with the retainer clip in place, i wouldnt think that the shifter should really move at all, mine didnt before i put the clip in but i have the b&m ss which could be different. If all you need is the o ring you can get one at lowes or home depot..

as for driving without it, dont know but have heard that some people are still using theirs without the retainer clip!! just be easy on the shifts until you know for sure its locked in

Without the o-ring there is a gap between the white plastic bushign and the clip- thats why it moves.

Any idea what size to look for with the o-ring?

ahh gotcha.. not sure the exact size, just measure the diameter of the tube that holds the shifter and get as close as you can

when i installed my kartboy (2003 P5) my o ring wouldn't fit back under the circlip. i left it off and have had no trouble. the shifter dosen't move up and down like yours.

Sounds like you may have put a bushing upside down- thats what I did and it made the clearance all wrong for the clip.
