So, i only have about 540 miles on my car. Ive been babying it since i bought it. Yea here and there ive been hitting the boost a bit, but not for about 1 week straight. Today, being Friday i decided i wanted to open it up some and feel the boost. Well, it didnt happen. Yea the boost was there, but not as much as the 1st few times i drove the car around. Its about 82F outside so i dont know how much a differnece that makes. I was kind of thinking, could it be because the ECU is in "sleep" mode? Seeing as ive been driving my car lightly? Just a thought. This is a bone stock 2008 MS3. Thanks in advance!

the motors on new cars are usually broken in before you even get to drive it so theres no real need to baby it. maybe wait an oil change or two before you kick the s*** out of it but seriously guy....beat it up a little. if you want a fast car your ecu needs to recognize some wot now and again. it data logs the drivers style and tunes the car to drive that way. if you drive like a grandma, your car will be a grandmas car...if you drive it like a MAN....lol....it will be a MONSTER!!! honestly...drive it like a sports car, not a buick.

Thanks for the response! Today i started "beating" it if you will. Slowly thru out my 30 min drive i felt more and more power as i drove it around. I was only driving it slow and easy so i break it in. Just like the manual stated, 600 miles.

I felt the same way with my car for a while. There's a lot of factors involved I'm sure, and as mentioned the ECU adjusting seems like a big factor.

Now my car feels like its running very fast with 1,500 miles on it. But there was one week when I had just gotten to 600 miles it felt sluggish compared to what I remembered when it had less miles. For one, I think you begin to get used to the amount of power the car has. Especially for me coming from a much slower car, it was shocking at first, but ultimately you get more-or-less used to the power. I like to drive my roommate's civic to remember just how slow a "normal" car is, so I will appreciate what my car can do. I also suspect that perhaps the gas I got last fill-up wasn't very high octane cause it was from a lower named gas station.

Either way, I wouldn't worry about it, I'm sure it'll return. Go drive a "normal" car once and it'll make your car feel much better.

agreed on that. I have a Tribute w/ the 2.3 in it, same basic engine, but obviously the Trib is way slower. The Speed just feels better after I drive the Trib.
