Loose Driver's Seat Bottom - Under Warranty?

I purchased my 2003 Protege 5 back in October with 43,500 miles. In the time I've owned it I noticed the driver's seat bottom shifts when cornering fairly hard. Upon inspection, it seems to be a looseness/slop in the design of the seat bottom adjustment mechanism. The bolts holding the seat frame to the floor are not loose and the car is 100% stock so I have no concern about it having ever been removed previously by anyone.

I've searched and found a post in th MSP forum regarding a possible revised seat rail here: TSB for Seat Rails. In that thread the mazda number P/N BJOE-88-H50B is listed.

-Is this a typical problem for Protege 5's?
-Is the seat bottom looseness covered under warrany?
-What is P/N BJOE-88-H50B ? Is it a revised part? Is it applicable to the Protege 5?

Any information or help is appreciated....

For those of us who have not experienced this, what exactly do you
mean by "shifts"? Is the motion front to back, side to side, up and down, tilts...?

At the risk of being indelicate, is the seat possibly carrying more weight than it may have been designed for?

Its a slight side-to-side motion, mostly in the rear of the seat bottom, similar to the seat frame not being firmly bolted to the floor. It's due to the design of the height adjustment mechanism from what I can tell.

I would hope 155 lbs is not over the design capacity....

yeah, there is an ever so slight shift in the bottom seat. i think its normal and part of the design. if yours is sliding all over the place, than that's defenitely not normal but slight movement is ok, i have it too.

It is definitely less noticable with the seat at a lower position....but I do not like feeling the seating position shift upon turn-in.

I may make a trip to the dealer and see what they have to say.

Mine does not do this but I would definitely get this checked ASAP, as your seats are one of the most integral components of crash protection in the car. A loose, or shifty seat could almost negate any protection a seat belt or air bag provides.

Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, take it in. I have minimal movement in my car, but that is nothing like my 2000 GMS CRap Sonoma POS. The seats wobbled like they were unbolted. the passenger seat would "wave" at me in the rear view mirror when driving. The most fun, what stopping. Both seats slid into the dash like I was adjusting the seat track. 17 times at the dealer. The last time was the day before it became 2 Mazdas.

i got that too since i got my car for two months, and i got the car in and have the dealer look at that, but they tried to show me around all protege and protege5 they got in lot, all of them do that, so they said that is normal and there is nothing to warranty on it if all protege do the same.
