lately when i've been driving i've noticed this...wobbling coming from front passanger side wheel.

it feels like i didnt tighten the lugnuts all the way (i did,i've made sure like 20 times)

i took the wheel off, the rotor and the caliper off that wheel, and the thing with the 5...lugscrews (is that called the spindle?) looked to be okay, but i lifted it up a littlebit, tugging it with my hand, and it moved up a little.

the other wheel doesnt do that at all.

is my passanger side axel bad?

did it happen all of a sudden while you were driving?
or was it something you noticed over time?

my problem was one night to the next morning. i guess my car woke up sick, and hasnt gotten better.

i got quotes for like 25-59 bucks for a new wheel bearing, is that what needs to be replaced?

Quick question about your wobble. I've recently noticed the same thing in mine. I didn't feel in in the steering wheel so I automatically assumed itwas in the rear. Did you feel it in your steering wheel?

I thought mine was a wheel balance issue since it started kind of overnight. But I just had brand new winter rims and tires mounted and balanced and the wobble didn't go away at all. It increases with speed of the car, gets very loud if I turn left and almost goes away completely if I gradually turn to the right. I can feel the vibration in my seat and the floor, but not the steering wheel. Think it's the same thing?

i think it may be a balance issue

i got some new tires, and theres more weights on my wheel than ever before.

now, that could because the tire is wierd, but...w.e.

i tightened the axel, and to my amazement, the wobble went away!!

and two days later its back...

and its driving me up the walls.

im assuming its the wheel balance, can anyone back me up?
i was told if the bearing was bad, it would make a loud squeeling sound, or seize up.

-i dont feel the wobble in the steering wheel, and if im gradually going right it goes away

Make sure your axle isn't broke like mine :)

Jack the car up, and if you push on the top or bottom of the tire towards the engine and it wobbles, something is wrong :D

wheel bearing. axles dont really 'go bad'. they break or they dont. however a bearing can have some play in it before it starts making any noise.

i dont know what to do, its driving me nuts

my brakes are getting low, but its not at the point where they should be squeeking, and i think the wobble makes it do that.

how do i know if the axel is broken?

Check the for slop in the Tie-Rods, I had a bad vibration in the front passenger wheel. The tie rod boot was torn to s***. Fixed it and solved the problem. Also check for broken wheel studs

wheel bearing. axles dont really 'go bad'.

CV's do 'go bad'. There are some warning signs before they break (clicking mid-corner, etc), so there is some progression. On street cars at least. on race cars yes, I agree, they're generally go all at once.

ok I may have diagnosed the wrong problem....lol

hey, aMAFF

i live in buford, and i was wondering maybe if you had like a shop or something or know someone that could help me figure this problem out.

i dont make much money, as im a musician, so i want to avoid going to a shop and having them **** me for stuff i dont need

cookie, it sounds like it's the wheel bearing from what you've described (lifting it and tugging on the wheel). I really wouldn't have the tools to do the front wheel bearing, as it needs to be pressed in / out. Make a quick thread in the GA section and see if you get any volunteers. We have a good bunch of mechanical minded people in our group, including a couple folks who work @ shops.
