All right, I know I'm going to catch a little flak for posting something that sounds noobish, but I'm looking for any kind of advice for purchasing a used Speed6 within the next 3-6 months. what kind of mileage do you (as an MS6 owner) have on your vehicle?

trying to get a good baseline for some of the used cars I've located in the Orlando area...don't want to get screwed over

Thanks :D

i have 50k and would make sure all TSBs have been performed, make sure there are new tires on it as they are around 1k for install balance parts and more for GOOD tires. make sure there are no mods and its never been flashed, anyone who mods this car is driving it very fast. opt out for the sunroof/gt combo unless it comes with navi, otherwise, it wasnt worth it just for the leather and keyfob that doesnt work lol. get the base model with no sunroof and aim for a late build '07.

I wouldn't go as far to say that no mods is good. I'd prefer it, but in most cases, you're probably looking at lease turn in '06's right now. I would skip anyone who has put a big turbo or serious work in it, since there's no clue how it was kept, tuned, etc.

As shredder said, late model '07 builds seem to be more free of problems, but there's no guarantees with that.

Mine is going bye bye..only thing it has is an SRI. Had the clutch, flywheel and Bearing done at 24k per the TSB. Has 33k now.
Will be posting it in the FS Section tonight! :)

I can't comment too much being from the UK, but I remember reading here a while ago, that depending on the area of the US where the MS6 was purchased new, some were built in the US and some were built in Europe. It was said that the cars built in Europe were slightly better build quality. Maybe someone else can confirm if this is correct or not. It may also be worth checking VIN's for any associated problems, as certain recalls and TSB's may only apply to some batches of cars.

all mazdaspeed6s and mazda mps's are bulit in hiroshima japan and imported to all regions. however, certain speed6s including mine, could possibly have a california emissions model, i live in NJ, but mine came to order, since i had specifics for my car.

Just an observation but it seems that most of the notorious turbo seal / fuel pump /sputtering / hesitation issues seem to be 06 models. Not to mention the 07 models should have the improved clutch design and other issues taken care of.

I have never had any sputtering issues except for when I first bought it. Re-flash and that was gone. Had the Clutch, flywheel and throw out bearing done at 24k.(TSB) My car has been flawless otherwise. 33k now...(drive)
