looking for the mute wire on a ms3

any idea the location and color of the mute wire for the bose radio? i'm thinking i might be able to pick it up off of the steering colomn since there is a mute button on the steering wheel. i know i'm shooting in the dark but i thought i'd throw it out there. thanks

What do you need the mute wire for? Putting in an aftermarket headunit or something? I have a Pioneer AVIC-D3 and the mute function works fine even though I never hooked up the mute wire.

i am installing a aftermarket nav and i'm assuming the mute trigger wire is to mute the stereo when nav needs do give you turn instructions. someone posted ms3 uses bus cables, could i pick it up prior to the bus cable? perhaps directly after the switch? thinking about that..., probably not. crap! damn factory stereos.

Is it a headunit with nav or is it just a totally seperate nav unit like a garmin? My AVIC-D3 has nav and it fades the music out and says the next turn then the music fades back in and I never hooked up the mute wire. The AVIC-D3's harness has the mute cable on it but theres just no wire to hook that up to anywhere. You should be fine not connecting that wire, the only wire concerning the amp you need to connect is the remote wire for the amp. You'll get no sound at all unless that one is connected.

There are two wires coming from the steering wheel controls, I forget the colors but I used them when I installed an aftermarket dvd player in the dash.
I also installed a pac-audio swi-jack that allows you to re-use your steering wheel buttons for some aftermarket radios that have an input.
The buttons all use the same two wires but run through a series of resistors.
I can look again to be sure just pm me if interested but I think they are brown/yellow and white/black. they are in the center group of wires side by side. I have the wiring diagram as well.
