2007 MazdaSpeed3 "Injen CAI, HKS SSQV, AWR Engine Mount"
Zup everyone! I just purchased a an '07 Speed3 a couple of days ago and I already want to start putting new parts on it! I want to start with an aftermarket BOV and CAI. But i'm unsure which one (of each the BOV and CAI) will suit best the Speed3! All feedback will be great!

2007 MazdaSpeed3 Black - Stock (For now.........!)

Speed in mind the intake will be worth more money, if your car to sound better the intake does that too, and I'm not sure how a bov sounds recirculated with the stock intake on, I like the way my stock bpv sounds with the intake on, don't care if other people here it as loud or not. But it's personal preference.

i agree, the intake is a must first mod. i personally got the injen from Protege Garage. They gave me a great deal and it got hear real quick. and you can hear the stock bpv very well. its true that there aren't many mods you can do for under 200 bucks, so bpv might be an option for you. i was thinking about the forge bov from BEGi but i think i'll get a few little things like TWM shifter bushings, boost gauge, turbo timer, etc.

So how is the performance change with the CAI??? Is it a good one, or do you get the ever dreaded turbo lag with it??

Turbo lag is due to the time it take to spin (spool) the turbo until it makes useful boost. So its really a design issue with the specific turbo you are dealing with. You really wont see much lag on modern cars. And no, a CAI wont hurt turbo-lag... I don't think it does anything to it really.

I think only exhaust side changes have any effect on spool time.

turbo lag for the most part, is a thing of the past. Esp with smaller turbos such as ours.
