I've bought and sold several cars on Craigslist. Many people list both on the forums and on CL. I don't think you should rule it out.

Ditto. I got my P5 off a CL ad. It was super well-taken care of with ALL records for maintenance, 69K miles when I purchased it last May.

This one is in NJ. It's silver, has a roof rack, 88K miles, and asking price is $5K. Only bad thing is that it has the infamous rust in the rear fender area. Good thing is that its got some major maintenance done recently (i.e. timing belt, water pump, new tires)

i have an 03 salvage title that is part of the way fixed and has passed salvage inspection just needs to be registered and minor stuff repaired. i have a lot of projects and i would get rid of it cheap so let me know if you are interested black auto 7xxxx miles sunroof roof rack

There is no way to put this delicately. That is really stupid. All kinds of people post cars on craigslist. From losers who never did maintenance (the kind of people you are trying to avoid) to anal perfectionists who never took their cars in the rain - total trailer queens, to brand new cars at the dealer. Every imaginable care and condition situation is on craigslist. Saying they don't take of their cars on craiglist is like saying all white people *blank* or all baseball players *blank* or... you get the idea. All kinds of people list on craigslist. Don't rule it out. I've scored crazy good deals there.

I found my P5 on craigslist with 140k miles in great condition for a good deal, minus the typical P5 rust. Immaculate interior. Solid engine. The only thing about craigslist is that you actually have to use your brains and pick apart all the crap from the prize.
