Looking for a PCV fix.

Thank you but no, I read the pill did not work, I thought I was reading something
with a new style drain hose and valve.

It has worked for many people, I know several people here running it without any smoke. There are a few it didn't work for, but for $30 it's worth trying, since the only other option right now is a catch can

Thanx guys, but I'm not sure I really worried about the smoke issue, I mean I am but more consered with the BOOM aspect of it. I read the thread about the oil pass by causing hydrolock and that was the main reason for the " BOOM".

It stopped my issues nearly instantly. 20K miles no problems. It works for a LOT of people. You will also want a catch can to collect the crap too.

So does the catch can keep the oil from going into the intake manifold and down into the cylinders? The " Pill " is what a oil restrictor? If so why would Mazda over pressurize the turbo with oil?

Good luck!

Worse comes to worse, if it does not stop the smoke for you, sell it. I do recommend a catch can. I need to put one on, my hot pipe was really oily, like tar when I saw it recently.

I have NO smoke yet, I also changed my plugs last weekend and had no oil in any of my pipes, I'm just being safe, I do not want to wait till I have issues. I know if I go the dealer I'm screwed with my mods.

If you are not smoking, No need to do the PTP fix. Save up and do a catch can first. If you still smoke, PTP fix.

You read the rampant speculation of an internet commando in that idea. Anyone who thinks this is the cause doesn't know how engines work. It would take alot of oil to do this and the car would barely run right, giving you plenty of warning before this occured.

The best researched and most plausible theory is that people are loading the engine up too much down low, stressing the rotating assembly excessively or overrevving the engine. These cause rod fatigue and final failure at low rpm.

It has happened. Pics on another forum. Mazda even gave that as the reason. Odd, as cx7's run at low RPMs and are not exploding all over...

do the ptp pill be4 it smoke....otherwise u need new turbo when it smoked. at least didnt work on me...catch can, pill. 5w40.....upgrade my turbo soon....

Right, cuz pics on a forum is indisputable proof. Can you tell me what an oil hydro looks like, post facto? And who at Mazda "gave us that as a reason"? Some dealership tech, an engineer who designed of this engine? Nobody at Mazda Corporate has anything to say about any of this stuff. It's totally not in their best interests to say anything. Is it impossible? No. Is it likely? No. An oil hydro on a motor would be the most unlikely combination of circumstances and be REALLY obvious in symptoms leading up to it. That ****** would be smoking like nobody's business and barely driveable.

Man, engines are engines. There ain't nothing special/unique/bizarre going on here. Occam's razor, man. Lots of low rpm, high load, bizarre fueling, brainless modification, there's gonna be some blammo. These are more likely since they are causal in all engine destruction, not just this one.

I already ordered the pill yesterday, Above is right put it in before there are issues
why wait till the seals blow to lower the pressure. I'm also going to be getting a
catch can.
