ah the notorious Mazda yellow paint....yeah. Mazda f"ed up on that paint as the paint and clearcoat are mixed(i believe) and it looks like it might be too late to save it...but you could try waxing it...
but looking under the hood at the condition(kinda dirty) and everything else I'd look fo a different one to spend that kind of money on...maybe spend a few more bucks and get one in nicer condition...

problem is, it only gets worse

Thanks for the advice you two. We're trying to find something local, which is damn near impossible when you live in Arkansas.
If you had to make an offer just off pics alone and what you know about the yellow paint and how it fades, what dollar amount would you say is fair.

I wouldnt buy it so I cant tell you lol
search for other P5's near you with similar options to get an idea of what the market is around you. I'd say if he's asking $5000 for I would offer about $4200-4400 for it. Explain that the car is going to need some work and then take about $300 to get a good detail on it. If you do it your self, yes your polishing supplies are going to turn yellow, don't worry it's the paint oxidation that is comming off. You'd have to polish the car with power tools, really hard, for a very very long time before all the paint comes off. Under the cloudy faded paint should be resting a beautiful happy yellow again.
Thank you. Unfortunately, I'd have to look out of state to even begin to find a price comparison. I will look around though. He's going to take a second look at the car this week.

yea that paint is horrible, idk what mazda was thinking on making that a single stage paint
if i was to buy that.....probably 4200 i think is fair because the paint is really bad, he has mods so who knows how he drove it, and looks like he doesnt maintain his car too well from the engine bay pics and the outside pics

Well said. Wait it out, a much cleaner one will come eventually.
Right after I bought mine a bunch of P5's popped up, some were a better deal for the money. I was disappointed. (gtfo)

I have to laugh at all the advice you have been given here, for a start the paint is not that bad, bumpers are the worst, you will be surprised how much that paint can be restored with some time and effort.
In defence of the car there is no rust in all the rust prone areas that P5s can rust.
Such as rear wheel wells, front strut towers. In the end you are the one to own and drive the car make your own decision. You will probably be able to deal down to about 4500 bucks and that is a decent price for an 03.
Remember 4500 bucks is not a lot of money relatively speaking, you would lose more than that in the first years depreciation on a new car. Just my 2 cents.
