Looking at a CPO 2024 CX-5…Need Advice

Hi all - I will be needing a car shortly and am looking at Mazdas. I have been a longtime Toyota/Lexus driver and been researching Mazdas this time.

Looking at a locally available CPO 2024 Mazda CX-5 Turbo Signature trim - approx 16K miles - listed at 31.5K . Trying to figure out if this is a good deal?
I haven't contacted the dealer yet - just trying to figure out if this is good or not. The history shows it was a lease and part of me is wondering why they returned it so soon -but the records don't show anything abnormal .

I read another thread for approximate prices off MSRP for new cars but since this is a only a year old CPO - not sure how well that translates.

Also, how is the CPO program in general with Mazda? Should I still expect to pay an independent mechanic to check this out ?

Any advice appreciated !

It was probably leased in 2023 so it's coming up on the 2 year mark. Leasee probably decided to get another car. Maybe wanted a CX-50 or CX-9 or some other brand. With the factory warranty plus CPO warranty you shouldn't have any problems. I would not have an independent look at it. Have not heard any complaints about Mazda's CPO warranties.

At 16k all it even needed was oil/filter and tire rotations. Maybe engine filter which you can do yourself in 5 minutes with no tools.
As far as price it doesn't seem out of the ordinary. That's was a 42k car new.

The turbos have some upgrades: larger front brakes and upgraded transmission. All of the 2.5l engines have forged crank shafts and piston rods. That a big upgrade over cast parts of Toyota/Lexus/Honda....

I have 24 CX 5 turbo. We have had zero issues after dealing with squeaking front brake pads. I took this as an opportunity to upgrade the pads and rotors, though not required. It's quick and is FE. We like the small turning radius and it's very quiet. We have taken several long trips and it's less tiring than our previous cars.

The Toyo OEM tires are soft and don't handle to well. We will be changing these our soon.

Oil changes are more frequent to keep fresh oil going through the turbo. Plugs at 45K mi too.

We tuned our engine. It's about 300 HP. Its quick and gets +30 MPH highway. This is not an option on Toyota products.

Fun car to drive and is safe. We like the understated interior.

you should be able to see when it was first put in service via carfax. What do the records show for oil changes? Some leasee's would probably go the max distance between changes and that would bother me. If changes were at 5000 miles I would not worry but if they are stretched out to 8000 miles I would not like it. I like our 23 turbo but Mazda CX5's do not hold their value very well and are in need of an update.

What kind of update?

I agree it seems like a good deal,. That is the top of the line version and has tons of warranty left (even better than new with the CPO). I wouldn't hesitate to buy it if it hasn't been wrecked.
