Lookie what I found...

I just returned from the Motor Expo at beautiful Muang Tong Tanee. It was typically lame (except for the girls), BUT I found a company that will sell a full DVD video kit including the flip up 7" monitor just like what comes with the OEM Navi system. They will also sell an integrated GPS system, but since it is tailored to Thailand, I don't think it would do you much good. That's not to say a North American GPS system couldn't be integrated.

The system includes:

The motorized monitor
A six disc DVD changer
A rear facing camera (they had it mounted in the middle of the bumper. I think that's not such a good idea).

The install is very slick. Even if you don't have the screen up, when you engage reverse, it automatically opens and turns on the rear view screen. This does come at a price. Mr. Boonchoo said 40,000 Thai Baht (which at today's suck-ass exchange rate is about $1,130.00 US).

Since they have it here, it might just be going to your side of the world soon. Follow the link to the website. It's in Thai, but the pictures do a pretty good job of showing you how it looks. They also have headrest players for the rear seat passengers. Those also look first-rate. Drop a DVD into the top of one, and both of the little (or big) guys in the back can watch the movie on their own screen.
