Lights-on reminder warning alarm not working

2018 Mazda CX-5 Touring FWD Machine Grey Metallic
Just curious. Does your Lights-on reminder warning sound off when you leave your lights on after you have turned off the ignition and open a door? Most of the vehicles I have owned in the past do this. This is the first vehicle I've owned where I have discovered in the manual that it is a personalized feature that I can't control but the dealer can. Kinda dumb if you ask me. Mines not working and I guess I'll have to go to dealership to get it fixed.

I'm reading (per manual) it as the warning is standard/default.

The setting that "can only be changed by an Authorized Mazda Dealer" is the volume. Factory setting=High Available settins=low/off

But since I always leave my headlight switch in AUTO postion, I have never tested this feature.

Auto ON/OFF headlights I think is a Grand Touring only feature. I'll have to check tonight how my touring behaves this evening.

Bi-Xenon HID headlamps with auto leveling and auto on/off is part of Touring Technology package if you have that.

Complete list of what is included in that package (for Touring model):

- TomTom Navigation System
- Rain-sensing windshield wipers
- Antitheft perimeter alarm system
- Bi-Xenon HID headlamps with auto leveling and auto on/off
- Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS)
- Auto dimming mirror with Homelink

Regardless, if you don't have that package, the CX-5 should have lights-on warning as standard.

I tried mine (lights were on via manual mode), just like you observed, no warning...

I have a Sport. No warning, but the lights go off by themselves within 30 seconds or so.

Yes, per manual that is default setting (30 seconds) for lights to turn off when ignition is turned off.

Maybe there is no warning (which is not what's printed in manual)?....

I found that the alarm only sounds when the time is set to 0 seconds. It makes sense because at this setting the lights will not shut off.

Ahhh I was wondering why mine dinged...I assumed 0 seconds meant it would shut off immediately when I set it before. I'll have to change it.

Thanks for figuring that out, because it wasn't easy via the manual. Makes sense, no need for warning if lights turn off in 30 seconds (default setting) or so.

Now that makes a whole lot of sense. They should have printed that in the manual. Thanks sfergy! This is a great website.

btw - Welcome sfergy. Excellent 1st post and great job trouble-shooting!

Conclusion: NPF
