Lights on Audio Buttons Flickering: What should I look out for?

I'm hoping that this is a simple fix! A couple of months ago, I installed an XCarLink iPod integration kit on the audio system. Basically, rounded up some instructions from different sources on how to disassemble the center console, and everything went smoothly. The iPod kit worked, the car behaved normally, and no rattles resulted from the installation.

But, a few weeks ago, I noticed the lighted audio control buttons flickering. Obviously, this is an issue with the audio unit and/or center panel module because all of the other center console lights (the climate control buttons, and the display) still light up with no blinking. This weekend, I will disassemble the console again over the weekend, and check the connections to make sure none of the wiring harnesses connecting to the audio unit are loose. But, I wanted to also see if anybody had any input on what else I should be looking out for.

When I installed the XCarLink kit, the integration unit simply plugged into the 16-pin connector on the back of the audio unit, and did not require separating the center panel module from the audio unit. Since the lights are on the center panel module, I wonder if there is a loose connection or light bulb assembly on the module that I should check.

Anyway, maybe it's just a loose cable, but if anyone has any feedback, I'd appreciate it!

Is there a separate ground connection? If so, check your ground first. More often than not, a bad ground connection causes symptoms like this.
