Lite-weight Speedglass Pre-Molded Lexan Windows
These Speedglass windows pre-molded to the same curve
as the stock '86-'91 RX-7 glass windows. They are trimmed
to shape by CNC router and coated with an amazingly
scratch-resistant hard face coating. While also available
in thicker sizes, the most popular are listed below.
Available individually or in sets. Save approx 1001lbs
by installing the complete set.
.125" windshield....................................340.00
.093" rear hatch....................................325.00
.093" right door window.............................120.00
.093" left door window..............................120.00
complete set of all the above.......................850.00/s

they might of made o type-o though but even if it is 100 that is still pretty good.

oh - so it's lexan, a high-density polymer - aka, it's plastic :)

great for a race car, but horrible for a street car. No matter what they do, the plastic WILL scratch...over time id adds up, also unless you apply the conditioner to it every time after you wash the car, they will haze/yellow over time, esp if the car is parked/driven out in bright sun a lot. Most of the time the lexan replacement windows DO NOT work with power window systems (ie they will always have to be up) and sometimes dont work with the manual windows (not sure why it sometimes works with manual and never with power....maby its the regulators...but at any rate, plan on not being able to roll you windows up/down) You WILL lose the defoger for your rear window...and while lexan wont fog up as easy as glass..when it does fog up...its harder to de-fog.

If you want to give it a try go for it. I could see it saving about 100lbs....and thats weight off the top half of the car, so it will help with handling.

have you checked the curb weight on an RX-7 ??? You really think you make it a 1700-1800 lb car with lexan windows ??? There is NO way you save 1000 lbs on glass...Have you ever lifted a window or a windshield ???

A side window is MAYBE 20 lbs, I could possibly see 100 lbs savings if you replaced all of them

you can't even take out the glass period and save 1000 pounds. A car with no glass can't be that light. The windows aren't lead, they're glass.

haha (cabpatch)

the only vehicle that you could loose 1000 lbs in chainging glass is either a armored car, armored limo, or a glass delivery truck, the glass would have to be about 2 1/2 inches thick. and the lexan won't cloud or yellow as bad as you think, I use lexan for aircraft windows and windscreens all the time, and never had a problem with them yellowing, you just have to use cleaners that are aproved for lexan or plexi. the plastic manufacturers have severly cut down on the hazing and yellowing thru the use of chemicles in the plastic and special UV blocking coatings. But thats ok, typo's happen.

LOL, maybe if you replace the whole chassis with plastic you can save 1000 pounds.

I had an old car that was plastic, but my mommy made me get rid of it when i turned 5
