Let's see some Mazda3 5-doors

Yes, the engine blew on the track and caused a relatively epic little oil fire shortly after I exited into the parking lot. There's more details about it on MOCC in the Buttonwillow thread.

Yeah, well it was bound to happen eventually (the stock engine blowing at the track at least... the fire was a surprise though). Won't have time to dig into it and figure out the extent of the damage under all the melted plastic until this weekend. But unless it's a lot worse than I expect, I do plan to just strip it all out, get a cage put in, and just make it a dedicated track car instead of bothering with replacing any of the plastic/carpet.

^ that dyno was done with the stock midpipe/cat right after the turbo install; I've been running a 3" open exhaust w/ high-flow cat for awhile, and it was a very noticeable improvement but never got it dynoed. So I would imagine it was running closer to 255whp for the last couple years if I had to guess. It was dead reliable, more so than a lot of people's stock engines... right up until it actually died.

It was pinging ever since I got gas at some random ghetto station off I-5 on the drive down to the track, so that probably played a large part of it. I don't think I could hear the knocking with my helmet on, if I had an EGR gauge it was probably ramping up really hot and I would have been able to avoid it, but I didn't realize how bad it was getting since the AFR and boost were fine.

Haha... yeah, it was at Buttonwillow, as I said earlier.

Here's one from her good side...

And one from the bad:
